maybe it isn't really VADRER maybe its some kind of Dark side Scorpion creature trying to make luke THINK its vader ... or maybe japan is just kind of weird...
I used to have this. If you put a coin in between the connectors of the zapper port, you access the level select menu. I think it was 99 levels? Not unless you count 00 as a level, then that would make it 100 levels
In this game, there are numerous fake Darth Vaders in there. For the real one, you first fight him on the Death Star, but I don't remember where else you fight him at.
I played this game back in the day. It was quite difficult. I always loved the part when you would travel to another planet with the Millenium Falcon. I even busted one famicom when i was trying to cheat and shorted the crap out of that famicom. Any leads on how I can play this game once more?

YES!!! this was Star Wars. Not the crap they released in America. I remember playing this when I was in grade school. I beat the damn game. the death star battle was awesome. IF YOU GUYS HAVE EMULATORS GET THIS GAME.
PS does anyone remember the cheat for this game? i think it's after you GAME OVER and Darth Vader's head apears you press select and something else to continue. please help. if you know of any other cheats please post. thanks.
I hated the Super Famicom version even more than the Victor version of Star Wars on the Famicom. This was far better in my opinion. The Super Famicom version had crappy controls and crappy gameplay (the only good part was the Battle of Yavin, which was better on the 1983 Atari arcade game.
Yeah did the Japanese not bother to review the movie before making a game on it? Sure it looks cool but what's with Vadar turning into a scorpian and Luke fighting Storm Troopers in the Sandcrawler. Oh well, I guess our games weren't so accurate either...were they?
This is how Star Wars should have been on the US NES, the one released in the States sucked, and deserves to be rare, so epople can forget it. The sequel to the US release, the Empire Strikes Back, was better however.
I played this back when I was a kid on a Japanese Famicom. There was this "cheat" where you wiggled a coin in the metal prongs where the peripherals go in the famicom. A level select menu would appear. I kid you not. Weird.
Holy shit! Dude I remember this game...I remember playing it on what my family called the "chinese nintendo." I later found it it was a famicom. Though I don't ever remember any English in it.
This game was so f* hard, it was a one-hit you die game. Never got passed the second level, if I remember.
In my opinion, if the Namcot version's gameplay was combined with the Lucasfilm Games/Victor one's graphics and story, it would be perfect. This one had better gameplay, but the other one followed the story far better.

When the imperial storm troopers seized the sand crawler the 1st thing Lord Vader had them do was paint it "death star grey" .

@acicon I used that method to clear game cause I never pass stage11-wood world(Endor,i guess).
The best stage for me is stage9-ice world.

And that's just the first encounter! Later Darth Vader turns into a fossilized Pterodactyl, a Shark, and a Yeti!

Why the fuck did Darth Vader turned into a fucking scorpion? Agree if AVGN sent you here.

The best part of this game is the music. They used the synchronized version of the actual film musics throughout the game.

I've played this and you're wrong, it's crap. The US version was innovative and true to the movie. But the SMS version was better.

Ha, that warp sound from the Falcon was from the Atari 2600 game, Starmaster. The gameplay was similar too.

Why would they call it a "chinese Nintendo"? It was from Japan.
VaderNES 4 years ago
Probably because they confused China with Japan and couldn't tell the difference between the two countries. I used to be like that.

Same here. Must be similar game engines. Or just the use of a sword and the way the in-game text is presented.
