@Starwalker6978 well, i agreem with balletlover! S/He doesn't mean that this should be played "slower" but just a bit slower.. for me this is too fast, but still, i like it! hahahaha.. xDD
Michelangeli once programmed to play the Tchaikovsky concerto. The concert was cancelled; probably because he didn't feel satisfied with some passage, so he didn't play it. He later never performed the concerto.
What I want to say is, that playing the notes is easy, but playing music is very difficult, even in a Haydn sonata!
@whattheasiann In RCM, I'm pretty sure it's grade 9. It only sounds difficult as it's played so fast. In actuality, the technique is veyr easy to master. :)
@LittleLulubee Im currently playing level 9 in piano and i can play this song...it really depends on how dedicated you are to this type of music, but around level 8 or 9 would be fine ( in my opinion)
@LittleLulubee this piece is in the grade 9 level, but its considered difficult for even grade 9. I just started grade 9 and I'm learning it right now
@LoveBuggJ12 What does anything about this video have to do with the renaissance? Pianos weren't around then, Hadyn wasn't around, pretty sure neither was Horowitz. This is Enlightenment period stuff.
I'm playing this piece! Whoever played this is brilliant! However, at the end of the piece, it's supposed to be forte.

Horowitz plays with a sense of wit and charm sorely lacking in today's Haydn performances.

his dynamics are good, but I dislike how he pops off endings sometimes.

Masterpiece.

Haydn's clavinetism is really highly inventive, as well as his melodic lines.

:) im just wondering, but isnt this piece suppposed to be a little slower?
balletlover119 11 months ago
@balletlover119 Ask Haydn! He probably would answer you that it'd sound ridiculous when played slower.

@Starwalker6978 Horowitz has a tendency to play his pieces at a rather brisk pace, yet he barely loses the quality or tone.

@AOK4mea this marvellous work is deceptively difficult to pull off. It requires
a special musical sense and intelligence to get the inner workings and dynamics
just right, otherwise it comes off tedious and boring. Horowitz sets the example.

talents he has, to make this marvellous work come alive.

...interesting rendering of a keybord, there on the 2nd picture...
anyway, nothing special.
The trill at the ending totally killed me, though.

It's very special. There's no recording like this one.
Very vivid and unique playing in the way of haydn should be played.
