btw for those who didnt know this was actually aired in the U.S. back when SyFy played anime. ahhh those great days. It was a really good anime. I cried on the last episode though.
It took a little effort to get through the first half of the show but the second half and especially the ending were incredible. I can see why this wouldn't (and didn't I think?) sell well though, which is a shame.
Watching this and comparing it to the crap that passes for anime nowadays is depressing. Texhnolyze has more ambition in its first episode than most of today's shows have in their entire run, and that isn't at all an exaggeration.
I cried at the end...man, great story.....every ending of the first episode, until the second to the last, just kept on making you want to know what happens next...then the last episode came, and then right there and then....perfect ending....really makes me want to cry some more..
Hey everybody! I just released my solo album "Mirror Image" that contains dark electronic upbeat and ambient songs heavily inspired by the anime Texhnolyze. If you're interested you can check out the songs on my youtube page, and links to my myspace page and places to download the full album are on my youtube channel as well :) .
I would have to say as this title logo looks "IMSOMNIAC" which I can see before Ratchet & Clank's ready to go, time to play! I think you can say chic instead of sick too. =)
This is definitly one of the best animes out there... and its more deppressing then anything else I ve ever seen.
This may sound weird, but when I watched this show I undestood for the first time what Martin Heidegger meant when he said that you cant understand the "Nichts", but in some emotional situations (like "Angst") it "shows" itself.
as already suggested, "serial experiments: lain" and "akira". also "ghost on the shell" of course. and the "patlabor" movies, though not cyberpunk, are dystopian and urban and very good.
lain is your best bet. Basically the same creative minds came up with both series. lain is a bit more cerebral and scattershot, without Tex's sprawling narrative and cast. Still, both are exellent, and if you loved Tex chances are you'll love lain.
Ergo Proxy is another post-apocalyptic cyberpunk series. Its quite similar to Tex, to the point of plagiarism. Its a decent series but most of it's attempts at philosophical depth fall flat. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone complex is excellent.
To add one more: try RahXephon. Its not cyberpunk but it's one of the few SciFi anime I'd label a masterpiece. Don't be fooled by its initial cliches: like Tex it explores some deeply existential issues with great maturity, a rarity in anime.
As for films, most of Mamoru Oshii's work is worth checking out. He's very hit or miss, but Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor 2 and The Sky Crawlers are all great. Like someone mentioned Akira is good, though inferior to the brilliant comic its based on.
@xridethelightningx why do you say that? WAIT I have not watched it so no spoilers please. Do you say it because they have guts to like kill off really good characters etc?
Openings like this actually make you want to see the anime. The only other into music that doesn't make me run for the mute button is the intro to Death Note.
This is the oficial emo postapocaliptyc anime and its one of the best animes ever made in history of humans .Its quality is so advanced that some of todays animes look like some retards couldnt draw something that would look like an anime. The theme is so realistic that its scary and the ending is extreamly disturbing and it shows how fucked up the whole humanity is,Well see ya in hell
I was just stating my opinion. Like with any piece of art, my judgment of it is subjective and you don't have to agree at all. You also don't have to insult me for it.
is this the origanal G A or is it a mix?? cuz heard the other orig. and this is a little faster and a bit different.....still like it tho...forst saw it on Starz action a long time ago..
the dvd is confusing it seems like it is missing some eps like it has part of it when ran sees him walking down a street and says something about i was right about seeing the future 0-0
OMFG! I've seen this on t.v before and i freakin luved it! i can't stop watching this video! oh please oh please someone tel me where to get the first volume of this! i want it soooo bad!!!
I bought the first DVD of episodes because I thought it was a movie, and it was definitely not what I was expecting. It was still really interesting though, and I wonder where it goes plot wise. Anyone have any advice if it's good enough continue, or gets better?
P.S. It seems to me that in the first 4 episodes, Isshin gets raped twice? O.o
Why does everyone want a piece of him? He's good looking, sure, but the second time he's missing two limbs! Bizarre
yeah, shuld def get the rest, war breaks out underneath, they go up to the surface and stuff is all weirded out up there, guy gets limbs replaced with metal ones. Lets just say its gets pretty violent. Guy from the beginning who does cuts his limbs off f's stuff up later on!
If you are willing to throw you sanity and logic out the window when you watch this series, by all means, go for it. This is a really good series, but be warned, everything only goes downhill, it never goes up.
Thank you! So, I'm guessing it follows the idea of death and destruction, and in the end, either everyone dies, nothing changes, or things get even worse off than they started off as. Yay for angst! I was hoping it would get clearer later on, but if that's the case, the confusion is kinda annoying at points.
yea, but If you get pass the first several episodes it really sticks to you, it keeps you wanting to know what happens next. I was dumbfounded after watching the first three episodes. but I just couldn't stop watching as I continue watching the series.
hmm. I might try out this anime looks like a very unique show. It seems the atmosphere to this show is odd, eerie, and sorta cyberpunkish and I like that :).

This series had such a feeling of hopelessness through it, but perfectly Cyberpunk, if you ask me.

I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a serious anime. I'm just surprised more people haven't heard of it.

I'm so gonna watch this... I loved the Lain series and Have high hopes for Texhnolyze... But I can't feel but a little mad that the animation on lain wasn't as fancy as on this one :(
Strangely enough I enjoyed Ergo Proxy far more. The pacing of Texhnolyze drove me insane and when the pacing was finally redemeed (about the 5 last eps) it was too late for me.
I think such statements don't automatically equate that you hate the show. After all there's a few animes that I think are alright but the timing of them and the laid back story has caused me to fall asleep countless times.
Argh, i want this sooooong!!! Where can i download it? xD Oh, the Anime, yeah, its pretty good! I saw eight episodes after another and i was totally fascinated!
texhnolyze is about an underground lost city called LUCKS, and the discovery of an cuttin edge technology, called texhnlyze, that allows limbs to be regenerated and or replaced by mechanical limbs. Is from the same creator from SERAIL EXPERIMENTS LANE, and BOOGIE POP PHANTOM. Is wotrh to watch, a little complicated, though.
I find the symbolism to be really interesting after the fact. The humanity of the story and characters as a whole tells a lot and makes it very personable to me. I also find Ichise and Onishi to be some of my most favorite characters because of how they try to resist fatalism.
The exploration of transhumanism is one of the best I've seen. That really makes a lot of cultural relevance if you've seen the recent Time or Newsweek article on futuristic technological advancements.

texhnolyze is about an underground lost city called LUCKS, and the discovery of an cuttin edge technology, called texhnlyze, that allows limbs to be regenerated and or replaced by mechanical limbs. Is from the same creator from SERAIL EXPERIMENTS LANE, and BOOGIE POP PHANTOM. Is wotrh to watch, a little complicated, though.

These are the same writers that gave us Serial Experiments Lain? No way! Loved that series...I gotta finish this series...

Mafia's proving their power by ripping/slicing the limbs off of people. Seriously, that's what it's about.
"Texhnolyze"(pronounced "technolise") comes from when you get artificial limbs to replace your ripped/sliced limbs.
