I have cambodian friend in singapore,he said that he ever seen Indonesian who eat rat in they restaurant.and i think manado people who like this kind of food.dog meat not only popular in manado,but also in Tapanuli,North sumatra.mostly Batak people eat dog meat.
It's not rat per se, as one would think. It's feral rat, and a different..species i guess, of a rodent. It does look like your average rat, unfortunately. I guess if it looks more different, people would be less aversed by it. Like eating guinea pigs in South America, for example, totally normal.

Yukk, tried it once just because I wanna try new things. It tasted just as disgusting as it smelled. ;-)
Bat-soup was a lot better, RW (dogmeat) was disgusting as well.
I better stick with ikan bakar, love that!
