you shouldnt be blowing the air on his face. when you blow air on a babies face they have a reflex to make them stop breathing. you can use it for noise but no need to blow the air on the body

I'm 25 and I use the same method to calm down, sleep...hairdryer sound does to some of us what a warm bath does to some others..mulls the noise up there...nice video, gives me a warm feeling

LOL, I love the little smile at 0:58. I find hairdryer and vacuum cleaner sounds to be relaxing too, and they can easily send me to sleep. I figure it must be that a white noise like they generate must be similar to the rumbling sounds that a baby hears while inside their mothers during development.

I'm guessing it is a combination of the white noise described below, as well as the sensation of the wind on skin, that calms the child. I believe the parents aren't harming the child, however. By holding his own skin near the childs, the father can sense if the heat becomes too much. Also, he is holding the blow dryer some distance from the child for safety's sake.

Its not the heat, its the sound that calms the babies down.. it's called white sound.. vacuum cleaners or, just empty cd player can also help just the same..

Okay. It's not suffocating, really. And the hairdryer is far enough away that it won't hurt the baby in any sense except take it's breath away a little (not suffocate) and it'll give it colic. But yes, it is just the sound.

We do the same thing with our baby. It's not really the air that soothes the baby. The sound is enough. Sometinmes we just turn on the hairdryer and put it somewhere in a corner.

That noise is white noise and is very soothing to infants. Some adults find it soothing as well...its funny that the SAS (british elites) use this noise to toughen their soldiers as its believed to be torture!
