i love love love this song! one of my favorite songs from FLL (another is Crazy Wisdom) but unfortunately this song was not as popular as their other songs. and i never heard a studio version of it.
this song is about spirituality. you and i have been here ever since, no begining and no end. we just take different forms. all matter may vanish but the spirit still lives on. "But we have said it all before, we will always be around. ...In a billion, million years...
when the planets dissapear you and i will stay and watch them all fade away.
"....The sea will rise the mountains fall, the Earth will turn itself upside down....but we have saved it all before,we will always be around....in a Hundred millions years when tha planet disappears...You & I will stay watch the world FADE AWAY?! ...In a million Trillion years, when the Planet disappears...You & I will stay und watch them all FADE away??!!...gonna watch them fade away...(Dorodorodut-dut!)...FADE AWAAAAAAAYYYY!!!!.......( " ,)
YOU AND I WILL STAY AND WATCH THE WORLD FADE AWAY!..i used to sing along to this lovely record way way back..this song really have obscure music and lyrics, thats what makes this song stand out from other songs theyd made.
bro. di ko pa na papakinggan ang studio version ng fede away sana mag lagay din sila kasi live version lang ang napapakinggan ko thanks nga pala napansin mo ang comment ko.
This is also one of my favourite Fra Lippo Lippi songs (second behind "Light And Shade" albeit a cover of Todd Rundgren's original)... The lyrics lend so much to making this song more melancholy than it is...
It's probably because this always appeared in their B-side. This was not an original composition. See comment below. Nevertheless, this is still a great song from a great band.
they say that fll was popular during the 80's, i was a kid then... but when i was in my teens mid 90's... most or mostly of by friends listen to e heads, the youth (local bands)... but me i listen to FLL thanks to my father. i dunno but i love them together with bread, america, and eagles... and know im in my mid 20's i do still listen to them.... love the songs of the early 70's like beatles...
it's so funny...after 20 years, I still play light and shade in my car! I was a kid then. Now I'm a father! Time flies...but my heart remains a child.
During the late 80s, FLL is so popular in the Philippines. I saw their concert at the Folk Arts Theater. Man it was an awesome evening. You cant hardly hear the band singing coz all the people are singing to almost every song that they sing. And you know what? The concert which is supposed to be a 2 night concert engagement only lasted for a week due to popular demand.
Fade Away is a great song! It's one of my favorite songs of Fra Lippo Lippi. I also like Even Small Trees Bend, Home and Regrets. They're also less popular songs but equally good.
Fade away is actually just a Fra Lippo Lippi cover of a Todd Rundgren (he of "can we still be friends?" fame)original. This is the reason why you can't find it in any of their studio albums since they only performed it live.
before I used to sing this song with a lot of emotion and word for word I know it. Its the flipside of the single "everytime I see you" back in 1988. It feels good when I discover it here at youtube. Thanks to that person who uploaded it..
you're welcome, dude...this is not well known even to FLL followers. a good friend of mine gave a copy of a FLL compilation to me which she got from a member in the now_and_forever yahoo group for FLL followers whose members include Michael Sutton.
@c6h7n just kiddin. It's Todd Rundgren. He's the original artist. Just messin around w/ good ol Chuck. Lol
