  • Mind-blowing energy! Love that movie too. Making me feel very nostalgic.

  • Me raecargo en la pared

  • This is a very subdued Little Richard. I saw him in a rock n' roll show at the Chicago Civic Opera House in August, 1957. He was a wild man on the stage; jumping around and pounding on the piano. He even jumped into the orchestra pit! I heard later he sprained his ankle doing that. He was fantastic! I saw him on the Phil Donahue show in the 1980s. A woman in the audience who was at the same show asked him about the orchestra pit jump and he confirmed that he sprained his ankle.

  • Only my left ear works!!!

  • SIN LUGAR A DUDAS...EL REY DEL ROCK AND ROLL...

  • what a voice

  • fantastic with the two jitterbuggars

  • fantastic

  • Is it racist to ask why black people can't make awesome music like this anymore?

  • THE TRUE KING OF ROCK AND ROLL

  • @Maxantium Amen! If he had been white he would have that title today. Only for the tone of his skin and the racial minds of the 50's-70's bigots allowed Elvis to Rip off the title from him. Long live Little Richard, The real King of Rock'n Roll!

  • Jeez can't we all just enjoy great music without a black and white issue?

  • OMG to see Richard when he WASN'T holding back.

  • well, nastylefthook certainly sounds like a very cultured person[or is it cutur'd?] i'm sure he listens to lots of Mozart

  • Little Richard was punk before punk was punk. Punk rock? Sock puppets? Watch the video on my channel.

  • ah this sucks, where's Pat Boone when you need him?

  • Rock and roll...you see it in one color...I see it many...you see hate...I see fun and creativity

  • Some of you out there see rock and roll as only one legitimate color...one legitimate culture...I see people..many people...Bill Haley..Phillips with Sun Records..Little Richard..Elvis...Chuck Berry...etc.etc.etc....many insightful, talented people doing their own things all at about the same time...just when American teenagers were tired of their parents' music and wanted something of their own..one of the great things about rock and roll is that it is a combination of many elements..

  • It's truly depressing to see discussions of the arts always result with comments of hate. "The negro has not enhanced our culture"? Bullshit. Our American culture is a composite of many things from many sources. This is very much true with music. Any time any body with talent and a unique perspective chooses to create something for the rest of us, it does nothing but enhance culture. It is one of the few redeeming acts we as human beings are capable of.

  • @bettyfelon1 i agree!

  • @nastylefthook You are obviously one that supports the Nazi movement. Having wasted 30 seconds of my life viewing your hatred I can only conclude that you are the one that hasn't evolved. Most of us in this day and age live together in harmony, just a few of you haters stuck in the past that are spoiling everything. Your answer to the problem is to destroy that which your poisoned mind dislikes. I would normally delete your comments but it is good that people see you for what you really are.

  • european man after 3000 years of civilization put away the jungle drums and rythmic clapping,,,strings and woodwinds evolved in civilized man,,,,the negros imported from africa brought the jungle drums to america and destroyed a part of our musical culture,,,i see young white kids with maori tattoos,,and lip rings, earlobe rings,,hopping up and down like masai warriors from deepest aftrica,,,now fornicating like jungle animals without civilized responsibility, the negro has not enhanced our cultur

  • @nastylefthook1 it's hard to comment on your opinion,i don't know how to help a person with such an uptight attitude.rock has become the staple of the world and it all started right here in the USA.i bet your from England.you sound pompous and condicending.

  • @nomiclas No no, that's the French. The English are just pompous. XD

  • @Kenuda i'm with you.where are you from?

  • @nastylefthook1 Funny, because those same drums brought a new meaning to the word 'culture', and not a bad meaning. It added in ways that you can never imagine. So a few people, not just black people but white people too, have become bad influences. That doesn't the black people as a whole are bad, or have hurt our culture and our species. If you honestly think that a few bad eggs means the whole coop is bad, then you are the person that has not enhanced our culture.

  • @nastylefthook1 AHAHAHAH ONLY A THIEF LIKE YOU WOULD SAY SUCH A THING. A THIEF WHO STOLE EVERYTHING BUT CREATED NOTHING, YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN CREATED AS A PHOTCOPY MACHINE AHAHAHAHAHA LMAO ! DUDE YOUR CAVE IS WAITING . AND DO US A FAVOR AND STAY THE HELL OUT OF AFRICA. AND OH I HAVE A FEW BARS OF SOAP FOR YOU TO SHOWER IF YOU EVER NEED ONE.LMAO

  • @nastylefthook1

What age are you still living? This ain't early 1900's. Please step out of your cave and enter 2011 as a brighter, less racist human being.

  • @nastylefthook1

This isn't 1900, step out of your cave and enter the modern society of 2011 as a brighter and less arrogant human being. You are simply embarrassing your self .

  • @nastylefthook1 OH WTF IS THIS MAN SAYING.

  • Thumbs up if Cold Case brought you here!

  • Does Lil Wayne and all the others like him even know who Little Richard is?

  • Once the general population knew of Little Richard's existence, (teenagers of many races) did he not become wildly popular? As popular as Elvis?

  • Who exactly is this "white America" you speak of? There's only one kind of white and every person who appears to be white is the descendant of racist plantation owners and is responsible for every bad thing that's ever been done by people they have no connection with except for the perceived similarity of skin color? "White America" of the fifties couldn't accept a black face as the face of rock and roll? Who specifically do you mean? The record industry, maybe?

  • Man Little Richard was a cutie pie :)

  • Paul McCartney has spent his entire life trying to sing like this after he saw this movie as a teen in Liverpool. I love Sir Paul. But, he owes Mr. Penniman many millions of dollars and thanks.

  • I kinda see why Leon played him on the movie they kind of look alike.

  • I LOVE IT!! "I'll explain later". Hehehehehe(deep breathe) hehehehehe

  • @chanceramone Evis was a SINGER Chuck Berry was / is an ARTIST . Evis was MAINSTREAM while Chuck Berry and Little Richard were RAW OPEN IN YOUR FACE ROCK N ROLL.

  • @chanceramone That's All Right was released in 1946 by Arthur 'Big Boy' Crudup who just happens to be African American. Elvis covered the song and that helped him start his career. There were many pioneers of Rock 'n' Roll and the debate over who is really King will go on forever. Personally Big Joe Turner, Louis Jordan, Wynonie Harris were the real 'Kings' of Rock 'n' Roll. They were Rockin' long before Elvis, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran etc.

  • @Ceejayqb So was Hank Williams. Hank was the first superstar and was rocking before Elvis too but Elvis was the best and is the real King of Rock and Roll.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE No, Elvis was not the King he was okay but if you listen to Big Mama Thorton singing Hound Dog and all the other people that ACTUALLY invented the sound, Elvis is just another Great White Hope, is was passable for the white people but just because some white people go around crowning another so-so singer singing music not made by him, well white folks just followed the herd. Rocket 88 was the first real Rock and Roll song, some say Caldonia but not Hank or Elvis, that is a joke.

  • @kimrabb I thought Sh Boom by the Chords was the first rock and roll song. Its the first one I remember.

Life could be a dream. Who wrote that song and where did the word sh boom come from?

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE I wish more people would educate themselves about music instead of spouting off because I take music history very seriously, it is important to get the facts right. You have to study the climate of that time, the racial tension, the payola system, the race records, the recorded facts and controversy regarding the genesis of rock and roll, why it was called rock and roll, what those words meant and where it came from, if you study you will know the truth.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE Louis Jordan, Ike Turner ( before Tina) dig around and you will be surprised what was happening in the Juke Joints on the all black radio, the chitterling circuit before Elvis. Read about how upsetting white people were to hear this rock and roll ( black slang at that time for screwing) and how white faces were placed on Black albums that were the first rock and roll albums, how a black rock and roll artist such at Little Richard would get ripped off by Pat Boone ALL THE TIME

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE Little Richard would write and record a song, it would be released but the white stations would not play the original, they would play Pat Boone singing Little Richard, Richard got no money, nothing. Big Mama Thorton sang Hound Dog before Elvis and she sang it MUCH BETTER but America could not accept a black face as the face of rock an roll, so of course Elvis fitted the bill he was watered down, diluted and not so threatening as a black person. He was no King, he was filler.

  • @kimrabb I love your statement and it was well said. I think white America can't stand to face the facts of real American history and how evil, treacherous, wicked, contentious, malicious and any other word of the like their ancestors were.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE Oh, and you have to understand the payola system at that time in American history, which thankfully became illegal thanks to Alan Reed. Many White stations took money to pay certain records over and over, thrusting them into number one positions helping to create or manufacture legends, such as Elvis. It was political, not musical and it was a terrible time in American history but now most are getting educated about where this music came from in the start, the truth is important.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE Sometimes you can still find those old 'Race Records" that have pictures of white people on the cover but the actual album is an all black band. I do not think Elvis was a bad person, I think he was at the right time and place, he could make rock and roll palatable for the white masses, he served his purpose but enough time has come on gone for people to tolerate and accept the truth of the racist system that prevented the originators from getting the credit and respect.

  • @kimrabb Elvis was the only King of Rock and Roll. There has never been any better before, during or after Elvis. U can write 20 more paragraphs if u like, but it won't change that fact. And I know a little something something about musical history too..my parents were part of it and I've studied it for over 35 years. I wish there was no such thing as race, then ur kind would have nothing to fall back on when you don't have any facts to back u up. But u have a great day and a wonderful week.

  • Umm Elvis never declared himself the king there bud. In fact when he was called the king of rock in an interview he pointed at Nat King Cole and said there's the real king of rock.

  • That cat knew how to ROCK OUT!!!

  • On the first day god said, "Let there be rock." and there was rock.

On the second day god separated the soft rock from the heavy rock.

On the third day stages apperared from which the rock could be played.

On the fourth day god created the audience

On the fifth day god created Little Richard to overjoy all the world.

On the sixth day a variety of bands were created incuding elvis and beatles.

And on the seventh day god sat back and enjoyed the epic concert

  • Little Richard is the king.

  • White people - out of my clip !

  • I've said it before on this wall and will say it again; Elvis recorded Little Richard tunes not vise-versa. If that doesn't prove who was King of Rock n' Roll it's time to clean behind your ears and go to bed! Richard, Berry, The Sun Artist, Elvis and the old blues players that get forgotten are the pillars of the Gendre'

  • Little Richard <3

  • for even wilder little richard tracks, check out "heebie jeebies" and "oh my head" (or is it "oh my soul"? which was done by ritchie valens too, who did a reasonable job of it too)

  • @wichrau have you checked ou the black and white bo diddley stuff with lady diddley on guitar? man did she CARRY that band, check them out. se was full on and as she could dane, it made a big diference to her bass playing.

  • @wichrau especially with him being a full blown drag queen who began as a rent boy, to think if he hadnt have made it with music he woulda probably died in a low rent hovel blowing cock, sad but true, howver, someone was wise enough to unleash him this way! what a knock out rocker.

  • True Rock. True music. Nice to see these clips up.

  • mind=blown

  • i start a pit when little richard is on x)

  • ROCK&ROLL SHAKE YOUR BLUES AWAY

    GOOGLE =JOHAN CAPIAU

  • ..WOW..THE QUEEN OF ROCK & ROLL AT HIS BEST...

  • @tickyreal Dont you mean the king of roll?

  • I remember going to a 'double feature' when I was 8yrs old w/ my older sister. The two movies were "Don't knock the rock"and "Rumble on the dock"...in '56 ahhh the good ol' days. I still play boogie piano to this day w/my Roland digital. Inspired by i'l Richard and Jerry Lee....Beanicus the "boogieman"

  • I remember going to a 'double feature' when I was 8yrs old w/ my older sister. The two movies were "Don't knock the rock"and "Rumble on the dock"...in '56

  • Did Little Richard bleach his skin?? He looks much lighter in later videos/pictures.

  • @nattydread329 it's the makeup he uses, the foundation was most likely a lighter shade

  • Enough with the 'King of Rock and Roll' stuff. The early history of the genre is convoluted and not as easily to define as you simps try to make it. Muddy waters, Big Joe turner, Bill Haley, Ike Turner were all doing Rock and Roll songs before either Little Richard or Chuck Berry. Lets just say that Rock and Roll is a democracy, and they were all founders. There is no one king.

  • @chilcox

you are correct. the exact formulation of rock and roll took place, somewhere in the late forties, early fifties. first of all, to be rock and roll, the artist had to be white. any black artists of that era were still considered rhythm and blues artists. many consider 'rocket 88' as the first rock record. the original black version was still considered rhythem and blues, at the time. then, bill haley did his version. he was the first rock and roll artist.

  • Theres a point in this song where it looks like he's going to take flight but is nailed down instead. Then he sweats from not flying off. He was the hyper one in school who didn't fit in. The true original mad man of Rock! AND he and Chuck And Jerry Lee AND Fats STILL LIve! Incredible! No one will top him. And I love modern music, I'm not a fart who goes on about it being noise but who can match the zaniness & bug eyed animal rabidness of Little Richard? He was in the moment, not pre-meditated.

  • He's awesome, but not really original in his songs :P

  • Richard was very weird but he really could rock.

  • little richard is wild

  • these songs are fun and i enjoy listening to them but you have to admit that most of his songs sound the same.

  • @mousequietly Go away.

  • LOL friendly alien pictures (F.A.P.)

  • Little Richard himself said that Elvis was the King and he was the Queen. I think that some of youse are confusing El with the likes of Pat Boone. See Elvis perform Hound Dog on the Milton Berle Show in 1956 for some rock 'n roll. Yeah, I know, Big Mama Thornton had recorded it earlier. Jackie Wilson mimicked Elvis' version in his own performances. Ask B. B. King if Elvis stole the Blacks' music. And while you're at it ask B. B. if Elvis was a racist, ask him about EP in Memphis and Las Vegas.

  • @strandwolf So what? There are many rock musicians who said that little richard/chuck berry are the kings of rock

  • @BlacknesUnforgivable Hey, both Little Richard and Chuck Berry are GODS in my book. I saw Chuck Berry perform live on his birthday in his home town of SAN JOSE, California back when he had his number one hit My Ding-a-Ling. Ever hear of Esquerita? (aka Eskew Reeder). Plenty of fantastic rockers that are undeservedly in obscurity. I just think it's wrong to use Elvis Presley as a punching bag. He was an innovator in a number of ways, not just a copycat (or thief).

  • justin timbrlake is shit!

michael jackson REAL king of pop!

  • Who's the real King of Rock n' Roll alright... to those who said it's ELVIS please raise your hands... and for those who said it's LITTLE RICHARD kindly raise your hands....

ha ha ha ha.... I think everyone who LOVE Rock n' Roll is the KING of Rock n' Roll...

  • @evascojavier you dumbass, then i'm the king of racism because i am racist? lol

  • Now this is music.

  • Actually, Richard did not write the song. It was written by John Marascalco and Bumps Blackwell.

  • @billyvee Like..............who cares!! It's the song we were interested in, along with who sang it! Who wrote it, didn't mean a thing.

  • My favourite rock n roll song of all time

  • Little Richard fought racism with his talent, his was so talented it transcends race.

  • damn.

  • little richard simmons

  • Wild????? he is only playing the piano without moving anything.

  • @melkiemelkie Sounds like a bumhurt Elvis fan to me, fuck off out of here chum

  • @joezetank um, elvis could only have dreamed of being this hot.

  • Comment removed

  • A landmark in Rock history.

  • @chanceramone in fact, the saying "rock n roll" was black slang back then.....it meant to "have sex"...lets "rock n roll"...lol...How old are you? Just curious, because I was actually there. the same thing that is happening and will happen to rap music is what made rock n roll become white music as I explained lower in the comments. White singers like Elvis made rock not "cool" no more to the black community. and they created new stuff that ended up selling more records than rock

  • @chanceramone PLEASE! Country music didn't exist back then...it was called "Hillbilly music" or Appalachian music....and you think THAT music had something to do with rock? lol....I seen that written in books too, but its bullshit, see i was alive at the time, and im white hahaha...Black people created what we know today as rock n roll...the roots being music like this Little Richard song. and this isn't BLUES LOL...this is Rock n Roll, get it right!

  • @vujacicitalia You think Country music had nothing to do with Rock and Roll? Guess you never heard of Rockabilly. Bill Haley was a Western Swing group that mixed RnB and Country, having hits as early as 53 with Crazy Man Crazy, not to mention Rock Around the Clock. Presley recorded in 1954 before Chuck Berry and Little Richard ever recorded Rock and Roll. Buddy Holly, Gene Vincent, Carl Perkins, Eddie Cochran etc were all Rockabilly artists first.

  • @rbound827 If Bill Haley mixed RnB in his music...he was playing what? Black music. Any white person mixing RnB in their sound were copying black musicians. Come on now, what the hell are we arguing about? How old are you? the King of Rock Chuck Berry was trying to cross over when he decided to cater to the white audience...He even put some whites in his band...it was a marketing position, you bought it! where you even alive back then to be arguing facts with me? this is hilarious.

  • Comment removed

  • @vujacicitalia Uh- Chuck Berry was called the Black Hillbilly. His style of music was greatly influenced by Hillbilly music, as he was a huge hillbilly fan. His first song Maybellene is a copy of Bob Wills Ida Red. Berry, along with Haley and Presley combined Hillbilly and Blues to create their sound.

  • @rbound827 its obvious you never heard hillybilly music before....It has no influence in Rock..look buddy, this is old school "hillbilly" or "appalachian music" copy and paste: /watch?v=TRlU_lSVluE ok compare that to this which was way before Chuck Berry's time, this is the music that actually transformed into rock, copy and paste: /watch?v=DCWUvI7yKtQ (listen to the piano riffs!!!!) and this: /watch?v=_A2pRVyBmOY Class closed.

  • @rbound827 Hillbilly music is what made "Country Music" not rock...Rocks roots are in RnB, Gospel, and blues.

  • John Marascalco and Robert Blackwell are the writers of this song.

  • why is this bitch talking when the king is holding court...

  • Jane Mansfield, I haven't seen her for a long time. Marissa harggatay's mother. (sp?)

  • CALLING ELVIS THE KING OF ROCK IS LIKE CALLING JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE THE KING OF POP. THE KING OF ROCK IS LITTLE RICHARD / CHUCK BERRY.

THE KING OF POP IS MICHAEL JACKSON, LETS BE REAL FOLKS.

  • @vujacicitalia

Maybe people don't know who is the king, but definitely we all knows who is "the killer "

  • @vujacicitalia I gave you thumbs up just for mentioning my boo Michael:) I've been an MJ fan ever since I can remember. Wish he was still here making that beautiful music of his.

  • @vujacicitalia AND NOW EMINEM IS THE KING OF RAP...THIEFERY

  • @vujacicitalia you sir are as bout as reall as a brand new car...you rock man

  • @vujacicitalia that is absolutely right......

  • @vujacicitalia Want to count how many Number Ones each had? Or how many people ripped off from each? Or who shooked ass more live on TV? Elvis wins on every. "Kings of Pop are ABBA"

  • @Carthsting But do you want to count how many cover versions each one had. Elvis was the king of cover versions. He had no intellectual properties.

  • @vujacicitalia elvis is THE KING by far

  • @zeuselrayo Elvis should thank God he was able to copy the greats and that the white people could not tolerate the real King, no not Elvis but I understand why you would think that, you were programmed.

  • @vujacicitalia

Yea I'm like the rest of the population going to have to disagree. Richard and Berry are innovators and were a huge part of Rock n Roll but Elvis took it to another level.

  • @timothyh71 Elvis took it and watered it down, it was much racier and hotter, too hot and unacceptable to the prominent white society. He did give it a broader more racially acceptable face but to hear how much racier and hotter it was before Elvis, it was hotter. It was mostly about race, most Americans do not want to accept that but read about the racial climate of that time and you will understand they needed an Elvis to crown because they would never give respect or credit to the real heros

  • @kimrabb

There were many before Elvis who didn't get their just due. Leadbelley and Robert Johnson were the true innovators of rock. Black music couldn't get played much till Elvis came along. He was the tool that got the others famous. But Elvis could also sing, dance, act, and looked good doing it. The others couldn't. Without Elvis theres no rock, no Motown, no British Invasion period!

  • @timothyh7As a Gospel musicianand African American, I disagree with your statement. We all know that Elvis stole most of what he knew from the style of music that African Americans were known for. Lets face the reality. Whites have capitalize from our innovation for years, including rap! I'm going to stop right there!

  • If you are a rock n roll fan, and you don't know black people started Rock n roll, than how the fuck are you a rock n roll fan? Lol...think about that! Rock n Roll started in the black community by artist like Chuck berry, little richard, hell even Louis Jordan...these are just facts, sorry to those who thought Elvis started it...the only reason people THINK elvis was the creator is because he spread Rock through out the white community because he was more marketable being that he was white

  • He was the first to ever rock n roll, i still listen to him evertday..

  • do anyone notice how cute little richard was here?

  • He and his band were the Prince & The Revolution of their time. then Prince came along and became the little richard of his time

  • Omg ive got this on a 45 at home, i forgot how Awsome it is. Brilliant to dance to as well

  • Omg ive got this on a 45 at home, i forgot how Awsome it is. Brilliant to dance to

  • why did black people change the type of music they make?

  • @ratpimples Why did white people?

  • @ladyvee7110

    y u being racist?

  • @ratpimples .... There was nothing racist about what I said. Weren't you being racist? What did you mean by your rather ignorant question? Times change and so does music. Black people's music can change just like everyone else's.

  • @ratpimples I guess the black americans got tired of making rock and roll so they moved on i guess.

  • @ratpimples black people changed their music because whites started to copy them. which made rock n roll not cool to them no more. Whites are looked at sometime as not having soul or not being hip or cool, so when blacks saw whites like elvis were copying their style, that made the music not cool in the black community any more. Same thing is happening with hip hop now. alot of whites are gettin involved in hip hop and watering it down.

  • @vujacicitalia RnR wasnt watered down by the white artists. Ever see Jerry Lee Lewis or Gene Vincent ? It was watered down in the late 50's because parents and the church blamed it for juvenile deliquency-and the record companies brought in teen idols like Fabian. Blacks moved on to Soul and left the Black pioneers in the dust, which is why there were no new black rockers. Those that switched formats, like Jackie Wilson had hits.

  • @rbound827 at least the people who made the movie "Back to the future" know the truth, you notice how they had a black band playing at their promo, because its a FACT that rock n roll is black music...the people who say other wise and put fake stuff in rock books are people who been trying to discredit blacks for centuries for their inventions. It's a shame really, but thats a fact about the country we live in.

  • @vujacicitalia Rock and Roll was RnB .Every Rock historian knows of Louis Jordan and Wyonie Harris- .Nobody is discrediting anyone- But Rock and Roll became a cultural force and a term for the style of music for the teenagers around 54 /55- so thats where most Rock historians start from. Previous recordings are still called Rhythm and Blues. Anyone who knows the history of Rock and Roll knows this-and usually is afan of both styles

  • @rbound827 "Presley's first RCA single, "Heartbreak Hotel", released in January 1956, was a number one hit" per Ecyclopedia *remember "heartbreak hotel is 100% Blues song! and "Charles Edward Anderson "Chuck" Berry (born October 18, 1926) is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter, and considered one of the pioneers of rock and roll music. With songs such as "Maybellene" (1955), "Roll Over Beethoven" (1956)" REAL ROCK SONGS! NO BLUES! sounds like the Jackson 5 and the Osmonds to me! case closed

  • @vujacicitalia ( And you can't go by Back to the Future for facts- The movie supposedly takes place in 1955- but Bill Haley and Fats Domino already had million seller records in the Rock and roll genre- and Chuck Berry didn't record Johny B Goode until 1958... of which he took the famous note for note guitar intro from Louis Jordan's Aint that just like A woman :)

  • @rbound827 ok, i see you like talking out the ass so lets bring facts. Official Quote from Lew Allen "the birth of rock" he's an expert on this subject. and you can find this info under Elvis presleys name on wikipedia!

  • @rbound827 "Elvis was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, Presley moved to Memphis, Tennessee, with his family at the age of 13. He began his career there in 1954 when Sun Records owner Sam Phillips, eager to bring the sound of African American music to a wider audience, saw in Presley the means to realize his ambition." - Lew Allen

  • @rbound827 and you said elvis started rock earlier than Chuck LOL, "heartbreak hotel" is NOT rock n roll, it is BLUES!!!!!!!!! /watch?v=ODfMz3wH1zc Elvis singing "Heartbreak hotel" anybody with sense, please listen to this song and you will agree this is Blues music! After Chuck Berry came out with what is called ROCK N ROLL then everybody changed their styles. So Chucks the king, i rest my case again. Do more research! Rockabilly was Hillbilly music w/ the black "rock" sound infused.

  • @rbound827 you know, kinda like how Justin Bieber is a white kid singing RnB music now, basically playing the Michael Jackson or Usher roll. Did Justin Timberlake start urban RnB? lol is he the King of Pop?

  • @rbound827 as far as Bob Willis WTF. sure the themes of Maybelline and Ida Red are similar, but what does that have to do with the music genre????? This is "Ida Red" a 100% hillybilly/Country music song: /watch?v=xW8u31u2pT0 and you want to compare that to a 100% ROCK SONG "maybelline" /watch?v=75RiHJGfyUE

Comparing those two songs you will immediately notice those are 2 completely different genres.

  • you cant help but jump around like a fool to anything he sings

  • betters all of this modern crap they call music

  • saw him 7 or 8 times (last time about 3 years ago) and still THE BEST

  • 60 years later and this guys energy still epitomises and BETTERS most so called rockers today

  • fucking great

  • who's the bleach bitch

  • REAL gone!

  • From the movie "The Girl Can't Help It" lots of great rock'n-roll acts including Eddie Cochran singing "I'm to pooped to pop" . There is also a ghostly version of "Cry Me a River.

  • This is REAL! The Original.

  • why all the hate towards other musicians like elvis?

    enjoy the music!!!!

  • 1956 color picture?, it suppose to be black and white

  • ok ok ok , i observe this man is a real king of classic rock and roll than elvis!

  • strongest voice

  • Sensacional!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm ready, ready, ready to rock n roll alright with my fucking main man the awesome Richard Wayne Penniman! I hope you are too!

  • best rendition of this song. PERIOD.

  • JamesJonathon013 - I DID grow up in the 50's and once saw Little Richard on his UK tour in the early sixties in Coventry.

He was 40 minutes late, but when he started all was forgiven as the gig was in the cavernous Matrix ballroom, so we were actually able to watch listen AND jive to him.

Elvis had a great voice in those days (uinlike in the seventies) but Little Richard's timing made him (imho) the undisputed King of Rock & Roll.

  • I wish I grew up in the 50's....the music is just incredible! Loud, fun and gets everyone going.

Now we got Justin Beiber....AWESOME!!! :D

  • ELVIS IS A TALENTLESS FUCK. ALL HE COULD DO WAS SING. He never wrote more than 2 songs in his life. Hes just as much a hack as the faggot pop stars of 2day

  • The Real King of Rock-N-Roll!

  • love this song Jayne Mansfield was simply divoooooooooooooooooon

  • Reading "The Life and Times of..." right now. So epic!

Little Richard is the king. And I love Elvis, but Little Richard is The King.

  • One thing I love....Rock and Roll doesn't give a damn about skin color! White kids flocked to see these killer black rock bands in the 50's. And, too, at a time when blacks couldn't eat at a white cafe, they could damn sure get on stage with white musicians and rip it up, just for the sake of music. And I think that is cool. I think that rock and roll helped break down a lot of walls, in it's own way. Keep Rockin!!
