My Father, the late Major (then Captain) F.W. Gascoyne was one of the founder officers and QM of the 1st Bttn SIR and the 2nd Bttn at Ulu Pandan Camp. He was very proud of both and was on parade for the presentation of the Colours. Happy days!! If anyone knew my father get in contact with me at briangascoyne@hotmail.com
Way back then it was know as the SIR March in 1957/1958 under WO1 (Later)Capt.F.W.Roy.
If I'm not wrong to say that the "begining" few bars of the march was taken by then WO1 F.W.Roy from his former regiment in England to form what is now know as the Singapore Infantry Regiment March.
