  • Tried it but with a stove and was good. The good thins is you have a consistent pattern/methodology so it becomes even easier to follow your steps and then use a bit of our own creativity. Lord bless you!

  • couldn't u just wrap with aluminum foil and stick it in the oven. That's alot safer and healthier, I think, than with melting plastic with food. Just a note. The recipe look delicious over all. 

  • @utubegurl2010 , yes i could have done that too but it would have taken a bit longer to cook. i like to cook in the microwave oven sometimes especially if i am short of time and also the tomato sauce gets cooked fully and becomes the way i like it when i make this dish in the microwave oven.

  • @cloudchaser07 , i do not use Garbanzo beans with my recipe, you can always add it to yours if you like. adds more protein since there is no meat added to this recipe.

  • I actually did not forget the ingredients you listed....this i show i make it and if you prefer to add things to your mussaka, then be it. and i think its best served with white rice :)

  • I love eggplants!!! and would try this dish anytime with a few variations... I've learned to "broil" the eggplant slices instead of "frying" them, just brush some olive oil over each side along with salt & pepper. They taste exactly the same!! Also, I would never microwave with plastic wrap... all the chemicals end up in your dish..and in your stomach!! I would use the oven instead!! ..and with some ground lamb/beef.. Yumm!!! Thanks for sharing!! :D

  • NO..THANK YOU for sharing your method of cooking this dish..i actually do it your way too, but my husband thinks it tastes better with fried eggplants :)

    microwaving food is very contrivesial and i do it because it is convient and fast.. I am not worried about the chemicals in the plastic, you can still use the oven baking method of course..no one has to do it my way :) Oh, my husband is vegetarian that is why i do not add ground meat to it :)

  • i don't fry eggplants. i use it raw. i make it cubs and cook it with sauce and a little of water on stove, then i bake it with tomato. its more healthy. but i know for sure that yours is more delicious. my husband doesn't eat eggplants anyways. so its a very rare dish in my kitchen.

  • it looks so delicious 6:29 , but i'm wondering do you have to add ground beef or lamb, and why would you put the onion you chopped in the microwave?

  • you can add cooked ground beef to it. its your choice. i sauted the onions in the microwave before adding the sauce and the eggplants. you can do this step on the stove top too.

  • You cannot saute onions in the microwave, thats impossible.

  • what's with all the microwaving? ... that doesn't seem right at all ... that ruins it for me ... and the egg plant is cut way too thin that it burnt ... the technique is totally wrong!

  • this is not arabic food, is greek!!!!!!

  • thats not greek,the greek dish is called Musaka layers of eggplants and ground beef topped with bachamel sauce. arabs have lotss of dishes that include eggplants and this is one of them. Iraqis also add rings of potatoes, onions and green pepper to this!!

  • kuwiatea, yes, you can add cooked ground beef to the dish, and then bake it. actually this is how it is usually made, but i like to make it vegetarian. :)

  • Marilsalex, i am sorry that you have allergies to tomatoes! maybe you can cook it with the same ingredients but using beef broth and minced meat added on top of the eggplant? good idea i guess!

  • and you should bake it in the oven NOT IN THE MICRO!!

  • try making it with potatos in the bottom and then add halal beef/lamb then add zukini then again the meet then eggplants and then add meet again and put a cup of melted butter w/ 1 cup of flour stir good add 2 cups of milk stir and one egg on top!!!! greek recepe for mussaka!!! trust me :-)

    you can add anything to it, just be creative. your recipe is very rich with meat, oils,butter, milk and eggs! i would not cook it this way because of the high fat content, but if it suits you, then go for it. Enjoy!
