@navinpigeon I'd love to see it! So creative! A few places and companies changed their packaging on me, it's nice that people let me go through their recycling to see what I can use.
@navinpigeon I saw that you had said that earlier, I understood. I hope one day you post some videos of things that you've made and are making. It's great sharing ideas.
@rmmann1 sure of course i will you are right it is good to share ideas doves and pigeons are my favourite,i'm not a fan of seagulls but i feed them after all we should respect nature and what it has to give us:)
@rmmann1 lol, once(yesterday) one of them tried to do that. lf you check my video Winter Pigeon Mix you can try that with your doves:) two tips are: you can take out the peas and use 2 & 1/2 cups wild bird seed and another is add 1/2 cup cornmeal :)
@navinpigeon I find when I use Crisco it's runnier, sunny hot days make a bit of a mess out of the deal. What do you use for molds? I use small paper bowls.
@scrfambledegs Thank you so much! I'm moving to a new room soon in an actual house where I'll have a section of a yard to hang feeders again, so I'm pretty happy that I'll be able to be even more creative!
Tools are all packed. :( I use things found in recycling bins. Make a hole in the center of the bottom of everything so a nut & bolt will hold it all together. A soldering iron makes clean holes through plastic easily. Perches & hanger are wire hangers cut with a wire cutter, bent to shape, popped through the holes. Cut little mouse-hole shaped openings, 2 or 3, evenly spaced on the seed holder (coffee jars are great) near the base, smooth with the iron, assemble the works & you're good to go!
This is a great design, as long as you hang it in a covered space. If you put this out where it can get rained on. This could be modified to have a roof that is larger than the floor to act as an umbrella.
Thank you for the comment. Too true. It was under an overhang, also has drainage holes to help with any moisture that gets in. I've made covered ones, those clear round disposable deli platter lids make beautiful ones.
I emailed you via youtube, I'll try to explain more if you want. Please feel free to ask specific questions. I can't promise I'll get right back to you, but I will get back to you! The feeders are really gratifying to make, it's so much fun to see something you've created being put to use. Anyway, please be patient and we'll work it out.
Thank you! I like to use a soldering iron to bore out the holes in the main feeder, if you do it from the outside-in it pushes the melted plastic inside, making the seed less likely to pour out of the holes. It takes practice, I've made many. I make a hole dead center in the bottoms & screw a bolt through for assembly, soldering many drainage holes in the base. The top is 2 holes with a cut wire coat hanger. Just look around for things junk you can see assembled in your mind as feeders!
Yes, those are mourning doves. They used to be strictly ground feeding birds but it seems that the prevalence of feeders has made them change their minds about where it's okay to dine. They still prefer the ground, though.
It's a happy thing for me to do, making bird feeders out of old junk, the birds don't complain! I suppose it's an art form?
This design is so evolved from my original soda bottle neck jammed into a medicine bottle neck design. What I love the most about all the designs I've come up with over the years is that if the squirrels tear them to shreds, who cares? There's plenty more materials to reinvent a new one just sitting out in the recycling.
alright, my first subscribed video viewing, Great use of recycle materials. My guys throw lots out of the aviary, I always sweep it up, and share the unwanted seed with the other outside birds. even squirrels, and most recently have discovered a young rabbit sharing with them. Thanks for sharing your iseas.

@navinpigeon Seagulls can be so intimidating! Once I just threw them my sandwich and ran away like crazy!

@rmmann1 It is actually very funny to watch them fight over a piece of bread
