Even though the technique is outdated it helps to see how things were done before, so you can play more intelligently. One of the biggest reasons I regret never playing TBC is because now DPS are braindead morons who just focus on topping Recount and think if they pull threat it's because of a bad tank. Tanking a pull in a Cata dungeon the way this was done in TBC will IMO make a tank more knowledgeable; if only DPS thought the same as they did back then.
Also.. for all you Lichking noobs, Here is what this instance Required:
Every possible CC in the group on EVERY PULL. Dps keeping constant constant track of CC'd mob's which included sheeped, feared and otherwise. If you let one extra mob go.. it could easily meant you wiped.
Keeping track of epic mobs and non epic mobs in a pull.
Being careful not to aggro another pack of mobs. If you did.. wipe, period. No questions asked.
And that is only the trash. You had better know the bosses.

Main problem wasnt that it was hard to tank many mobs for a warrior if dps chilled, but a healer wouldnt be able to keep up. espeically with all the mobs and a nasty mortal strike theese mobs gave ;) thats why this instance was a nightmare without CC. Look at his healer, its a T5 priest, ofc he doesnt have problems :)
hey gays, stop and evolve. Learn about chain pulls. holding aggros is old news. When u have one target left in a mob, use stuns, then charge in to the next mob. Giving more time for u to aggro and leaving dpsers in the dust. Hoping, healers has evolved too. Hope u guys evolve.
wow id roll a tanking pally instead of a warrior paly tank are way better with bubble and resistantance aura and ly of hand and stuff like that also they can heal themself
It's pretty easy in WOTLK. Just spam glyphed cleave and thunderclap. Well there is more to it than that, but it's still easy. If you think you can't do it, just try it.

this is not good, the mage didnt use an aoe the entire time nor did the shammy use any AoE totems or chain lightning. i cant even consider this AoE tanking but from my point of view as a aplly tank i guess it is much easier.

Today the shown technique is out of date, shock wave is your new best friend! In addition with the (skilled) thunderclap every warri is a group killer. Focus the primary target to build aggro with shield slam, devastate, heroic strike and revenge. For the other mobs hold thunder and shock wave (and spell reflect if there are casters) on cooldown.

Nice tanking...but dude you have so many add-ons that I can't believe how you even pay attention to all of it. I know it's good to be informed and prepared...but too many and the UI gets really cramped, not to mention the resulting lag on some computers. I guess it's just personal preference.

What legitimate tank can't hold aggro on more than one mob in an instance? That's not impressive, it's a fundamental skill. An all-def tank, tanking 3 mobs, at level, solo--that'd be more impressive. That's all I'm saying.

I think you did a great job tanking them mobs. i have a 63 orc warrior on frostmane and im still kinda learning the whole multimob aggro managment deal but this video helped me alot.
as for some of the other post here. for some reason when alot of people hit BT and sunwell they go through some kind of "asshole" conversion were they think anyone who is not in BT or sunwell gear are a bunch of dumbass noobs who don't know what there doing.
Wellll... maybe if you didn't have an ego the SIZE of sunwell, you'd see this guy is fuckin awesome, and you need to deflate a bit. Not everyone has T6.
i agree with fpsfreak101, not everyone is in t6 looking at his gear he is prob t3.5-t4, which is more then enough for this dungeon. besides that this dungeon is one of the hardest 5 man dungeons behind magisters tarrence in tbc. besides this dungeon has one of the worst number of mobs in a pull ive seen in a dungeon. so i say this tank is doing a good job holding the agro.
Is jallerlove serious? It's prolly kara epics-T4. AT LEAST use merc gear for tanking for the stam,Im using the S2 shoulders till I get my ZA shoulders because the stam is so hard to replace,it has a defence rating chant and hit rating.
multitanking is pretty easy guys,use thunderclap for initial heal aggro,tab target and alternate hits,same as you do for a single target except spam cleave instead of heroic strike. let skull's aggro drop if you have to and taunt it when you got sufficient aggro.
What addon did you use to change the health bar,mana bar etc... been looking for it forever... hope you can answer this soon, it looks like it makes wow a bit easier.

what a bad tank, i see mobs running at group and rogue with aggro. stand still on traget thunderclap cleave and, dead go for next! train harder! but it also could be he trying to tank cool in this video and just trying to look cool and not giving it 100%. we tanks are like that :)
Best trick to tank multiple mobs at once is using this macro. /cast [target=mouseover, exists, harm, nodead][harm, exists, nodead][target=targettarget, harm, nodead, exists][] devastate
This is basically a mouseover devastate. Basically focus your high aggro abilities on the main target, and start rotating devastates between the other mobs. Once everyone has two sunders stacked, you should be able to focus on the main target. In case of emergency, concusion blow is your friend.
replace devastate with sunder cause sunder dont break cc ... but macros are for fags ... tanking is easy if everyone in the group can follow killing orders (pugs ftl).
If your Thunderclap and Cleave do not out-aggro the healer, you are doing something wrong. Maximum threat on the first target to get it down fastest, then switch to target 2, etc. The DPS just have to stand about waiting if you are not making threat on the first target.
If you ever have some extra threat you can pop off a demo shout for a small boost in threat on all sorrounding mobs. It doesnt help too much but it is a good use of excess threat.
Al you SHOULD need to do as a tank is keeping treat away from the healer, now how many people have had trouble doing that? now try to keep treat away from that nukehappy mage WHO USES OMEN! is another story, once had a warlock in heroic Ramps who's maindamageability was....SoC, he lasted 5 pulls before I booted him for a guildie.
pally tanks have it easy when it comes to multy mob pulls with no cc i still have to practice a little more but getting there still like haveing 3 cc in my groups though
Good style, always keep melee mobs infront of you, even if you have to kite it, cause the damage caused when from the back Is alot higher without the dodge ect.
Start with thunder clap, then demo shout, and then start only cleave thunderclap, keep and eye on dps target always, just when he faces away give it a taunt, stun, even mockingblow if the dps is that low, after the first target dies you will have a good grip on the other mobs, and you simply just have to tank dps target,and a few TC
Now I am only talking about this pack In shattered halls with gear like you.. There can be many ways to tank big packs, and it is different from spellcaster to melee ect.
u cant mockingblow and taunt, taunt is def stance and mocking is battle stance, and dotn that a risk at losing any rage so dont change stances hit a charge then go def stance and stay def stance

Devastate produces more threat than sunder. Sunder and devastate have the same base threat but the damage of devastate make it a higher threat ability. in terms of rage:threat efficientcy revenge>shield slam>devastate>heroic strike>sunder. for tanking multiple mobs i usually use devastate and revenge, use thunderclap everytime the CD is up, while tabbing through my targets.
gg, the worst dps ever, not strange you manage to tank that, when the dps is that bad, took them forever to kill the guy who screams for backup (skull), last we did thsi shit was before they nerfed the dogs and then the tank never touched the skull, killed him before he reached us. You tank good but dont play with such noob DPSers ffs!
Multi mob tanking on a Warrior is a pain... however, with a good group, that concentrates on a single mob, it's made much easier.
Pull (or charge if it's safe), TC, SS DPS Target, tab Devastate, TC, Use your standard threat rotation on the DPS target, and TC/Cleave periodically when you have the rage to do so.
What most people don't understand is that tanking is the GROUP's job... not just the tank :-D
My main is tank and I love tanking (tank is funniest of wow , never bored, And yi is not very hard pull, just spam thunder clap and 2 sunder every mob, and focus Skull, easy, if DPS atak only skull. But :P nice, y like to see how other ppl tank :P
Skull lost aggro from the tank a few times...but i dont blame the warrior tank...its not easy to tank multiple mobs at once. If you can do it then your a pro.

what a bad tank, i see mobs running at group and rogue with aggro. stand still on traget thunderclap cleave and, dead go for next! train harder! but it also could be he trying to tank cool in this video and just trying to look cool and not giving it 100%. we tanks are like that :)

Best trick to tank multiple mobs at once is using this macro. /cast [target=mouseover, exists, harm, nodead][harm, exists, nodead][target=targettarget, harm, nodead, exists][] devastate
This is basically a mouseover devastate. Basically focus your high aggro abilities on the main target, and start rotating devastates between the other mobs. Once everyone has two sunders stacked, you should be able to focus on the main target. In case of emergency, concusion blow is your friend.

replace devastate with sunder cause sunder dont break cc ... but macros are for fags ... tanking is easy if everyone in the group can follow killing orders (pugs ftl).

If your Thunderclap and Cleave do not out-aggro the healer, you are doing something wrong. Maximum threat on the first target to get it down fastest, then switch to target 2, etc. The DPS just have to stand about waiting if you are not making threat on the first target.

If you ever have some extra threat you can pop off a demo shout for a small boost in threat on all sorrounding mobs. It doesnt help too much but it is a good use of excess threat.

Al you SHOULD need to do as a tank is keeping treat away from the healer, now how many people have had trouble doing that? now try to keep treat away from that nukehappy mage WHO USES OMEN! is another story, once had a warlock in heroic Ramps who's maindamageability was....SoC, he lasted 5 pulls before I booted him for a guildie.

Good style, always keep melee mobs infront of you, even if you have to kite it, cause the damage caused when from the back Is alot higher without the dodge ect.
Start with thunder clap, then demo shout, and then start only cleave thunderclap, keep and eye on dps target always, just when he faces away give it a taunt, stun, even mockingblow if the dps is that low, after the first target dies you will have a good grip on the other mobs, and you simply just have to tank dps target,and a few TC

u cant mockingblow and taunt, taunt is def stance and mocking is battle stance, and dotn that a risk at losing any rage so dont change stances hit a charge then go def stance and stay def stance

Devastate produces more threat than sunder. Sunder and devastate have the same base threat but the damage of devastate make it a higher threat ability. in terms of rage:threat efficientcy revenge>shield slam>devastate>heroic strike>sunder. for tanking multiple mobs i usually use devastate and revenge, use thunderclap everytime the CD is up, while tabbing through my targets.

gg, the worst dps ever, not strange you manage to tank that, when the dps is that bad, took them forever to kill the guy who screams for backup (skull), last we did thsi shit was before they nerfed the dogs and then the tank never touched the skull, killed him before he reached us. You tank good but dont play with such noob DPSers ffs!

Multi mob tanking on a Warrior is a pain... however, with a good group, that concentrates on a single mob, it's made much easier.
Pull (or charge if it's safe), TC, SS DPS Target, tab Devastate, TC, Use your standard threat rotation on the DPS target, and TC/Cleave periodically when you have the rage to do so.
What most people don't understand is that tanking is the GROUP's job... not just the tank :-D

My main is tank and I love tanking (tank is funniest of wow , never bored, And yi is not very hard pull, just spam thunder clap and 2 sunder every mob, and focus Skull, easy, if DPS atak only skull. But :P nice, y like to see how other ppl tank :P

Skull lost aggro from the tank a few times...but i dont blame the warrior tank...its not easy to tank multiple mobs at once. If you can do it then your a pro.

Tankadins: AoE 4+ mob tanking,
Prot warrior: 1-4 mob tanking.
Conclusion: NEVER use tankadins for endbosses.
Use them for multiple mobs, never bosses though.

It is possible to use Tankadins for bosses, we had a paladin tanking Kara and Gruul, and it was fine. But Warrior is perfect for main tanking.
