One thing he forgot to mention they started in Winston-Salem NC. All good things come from the Carolina's, Andy Giffith, Michael Jordan and Cheerwine just to name a few.
Our Krispy Kreme here in Tuscaloosa, Alabama was wiped out back in April by an F4 tornado. The only way to get any now is to buy the old, almost stale donuts from the grocery store which are nowhere as good as the "hot now", or drive to B'ham and hope that you get there while they're coming off the rack.
...I've got 3 words for you Krispy Kreme fanboys. And I know y'all hate hearing about it, but it's a fact.
Lone...Star...Bakery.
The Round Rock Golden Doughnut has been kicking more ass across the planet, period, than any other doughnut. KK is second best, I will give it that...but -nothing- beats a Round Rock, Texas doughnut!
I'm glad that I have the will power not to got to Krispy Kreme every week because, their doughnuts are really good and we only go when the fresh Hot sign is lit up in red.
I was going to tell you the times that we do it at our store, because I don't think they're the same everywhere, but I decided that it may be a bad idea! I personally work at the one in Thornton, Colorado. We're the best.... >_> I wish.
@ijij123 when the sign is lit that means they are cooking fresh ones and it comes off the line and straight into the box. I like looking through the glass and see how the donuts are being prepared cooked and go through the glaze process.
Yes, I won 52 dozen. But they went out of business before I could use all 52. They gave me a punch card. I just chilled in my car and watched a couple movies on my DVD player. I got there at 6 pm on a Monday and they opened around 5:30 am on Tuesday. It was worth the wait. I was on the news too.
Did you also win a year's supply of free Krispy Kremes? Us "Number 1" customers should get some kind of global KK status. Maybe some kind of lifetime 10% discount as KK Ambassadors or something. What do you think? :)
Its amazing how so many people made such a big deal every time a new location opened. You'd think its was the opening of an Apple Store LOL. Krispy Kreme was founded here in the Greensboro/Winston-Salem area of North Carolina. I'm 30 years old and have been eating these donuts since I was a toddler. My mom is 61 years old and has been eating them since she was a little girl. Krispy Kreme is nothing new to us.
I was in Santa Cruz in 97 visiting a friend who works for Apple and he said, "Hey Neil - you gotta try these!" and he drove me straight there from the airport. They were amazing!!!! Been hooked ever since! They only came to Australia in 2003.
Krispy Kremes are a snack or dessert. I don't think anyone ever considers them as an alternative choice for a main meal. It' s okay to occasionally eat Krispy Kremes as a treat as long as you eat a balanced diet.
@mapboy78 I'm glad it's such a common occurrence to you that it's not a big deal. For people who traveled to the US and got a taste of this, having a branch open up in your country kind of is a big deal. I'd much rather skip an Apple Store opening and go to a Krispy Kreme one. (FYI, the same "big deal" happened when McDonalds first opened in my country. Something you're used to, not us first timers)

@anterlic If you knew how to count, you'll see that there are 9 people, and 4 boxes. So, they don't actually have a box to themselves.

An apple store would not be very good at all.

I'd love to see an Apple store open up in the Brisbane CBD!! I might even camp out to be the first one through the door - just like Krispy Kreme!!
Doughnuts and Apple Computers - a perfect combination when taken with a hot cappacino with vanilla! Yeeeeeeeees!

i havent tried one yet cause its nowhere near me. donuts are high in fat and sugar hence not ideal as a stable food.
