Josh, thanks for the tutorial. I was able to follow with only a minor stumble or two..

My only thought is I'm not really sure how the end result looks like 'Glass'? Are you saying that the text, or each character is looking as if it's made of glass, or are you saying that the reflection made on layer two is creating the illusion that layer one is resting on a sheet of glass, due to the reflection?

ehh why cant i put the degree to 90? i can but nothin happends

Try using your gradient tool located in the tools panel, you can use it to move the gradient in any degree.
