Sold. My only question though, as far as the microtape rangefinder goes, it is obviously programmed to measure the distance of a subject directly in front of the camera. From that you would simply read the measurements it gives you on either side, and then set the focus. But this only seems to be ideal for a very controlled set where there are none or minimal things between the camera and intended focus point...
Is there a device that would allow you to step directly subject, click or press a button, and then have the microtape rangefinder automatically focus to that point? I work at a lot of wedding shoots and other similar events. It's usually a two, or if we're lucky, three person job involving multiple cameras. If I could have the ability to rather inconspicuously go behind a speaker/subject, click a button on a separate device that would generate a distance measurement, that would be perfect.
It would allow me to quickly and wirelessly dial in the focus of an unmanned camera, it would insure that no other objects in between the intended focus point and camera be mistakingly read out on the microtape rangefinder, and it would allow me to quickly go back to focusing on the camera I am physically manning without having to worry about moving around too much to set all the other cameras.
