  • Excellent!! So many of these ghost bands can be a bit disaPPOINTING BUT THIS ONE IS GREAT!wish they would come to Calgary

  • A few years ago I was privileged to see this orchestra live in concert. If you think these video cuts are terrific, by all means go see the band live if you possibly can! It'll be a lifelong memory for you, as it is with me.

  • i woke up today and just had a feeling to listen to a big band, for no apparent reason. And it is ABSOLUTELY electrifying. Good thing i followed my guts. What a way to start a day.

  • we are playing this in band, best trumpet solo :D

  • Glen Miller was the pop music star of his age and his music has been played and enjoyed over 65 years.

I wonder how much of the pop charts will be played, live by bands, in 50 years from now? I genuinely feel sorry for the kids who will have to put up with the quality of the tripe in the charts these days and have to tell their kids that was the music they listened to.

  • I liked that altos sound. I want it...

  • a nervous smile u smile when u know ur plane is gonna hit the water at 200 miles an hour

  • perhaps glenn is smiling

  • i take that back, egyptian mummies retain the facial expression after thousands of years,is all in the mumification

  • i still fancy the blonde bass sax girl, she's so cute my no is 07792 ...(UK)

  • oh man, those must have been the great days... music was relaxing, not causing pain in your ears, drummers just drummed and didn't slam their sticks at their drums, everybody was so chill about the music...

why couldn't I be born earlier?

  • @jowdemanne do a search for max roach solo since you're into relaxing drums. Fantastic.

  • Hockey night in Saint Louis!

  • I'm not crazy about the gimmickry of the trombone section, but otherwise this is a great piece. I'd love to see this band live.

  • Only one female and she plays bari sax!! LOL

  • @saxesrus Oh yeah! I was the only alto sax player that was female in my highschool band. ^_^ It's an awesome thing.

  • If anything the only person who would never get replaced from this band would be Tex Beneke... R.I.P

  • great band!

  • musikkastrat, kann jeder musikverein in rodgau beser nachspielen....

  • I love this band, I saw them this year, and I think they had some major lineup changes, many different players.

  • That drummer has it going on.

  • this music will stand the test of time and it already did ....60 or more years have passed

  • This song is so great. I'm a trumpet player myself and I play this song in my school band. (Different version) And it's just, this song is so great!!

  • AWESOME! best music E-V-A-RRRRRR!

  • I love this music! I'd love to see big-band come back! Did I mention I'm 18 years old?

  • @guitboxchicken i'm 14 and i love this stuff!

  • @guitboxchicken Glenn millers band has been around since the late 1930s. After he vanished in 1943/44 WWII from England flying to France, a mysterious cover up by the military..no surprise here! Millers wife kept the band going and that is why they sound just as good as they did back then. Watch the Glenn miller story, and the Benny Goodman story, both are awesome.

  • @dpchrist26 Thanks I'll check it out! Nothing beats the sound of well-tuned big band!

  • This is the best tenor solo I've heard of this piece so far - he's really cool. He sure has got rhythm as it fits in so well.

  • fantastik

  • The bigband of the 30's was AMAZING!!!!! Screw this new crap we have, cause that is what it is, crap. Thank you Glenn Miller, and god rest your soul, a true American patriot. I think it would be amazing if America's style turned around back to the class of the 30's suits and fedoras.

  • A great song for the drummer. I saw the Orchestra a few years back, and they were amazing! I'd go again anytime!

  • When glenn went missing, Tex Beneke{sp} took over thr band and lead it for years

  • meravigliosamente fantastico

  • Glenn has to be smilin' right about now!! He and other swing giants are just pleased that this timeless music is being carried on and hopefully being exposed to younger generations!

  • learnt american patrol today, and in the mood a few wks ago, im only startin out playin sax but i LOVE it and i love this timeless music... and i'm 17! Long live Glenn :-)

  • Kudos to you!

  • @tripleheshy =) I've heard grand things about the Glenn Miller Orchestra from a lot of my instructors in the University band I am apart of. =) My Director of Bands is a big supporter of the Glenn Miller BigBand. =) Gotta Love that sound...

  • @tripleheshy it is, we're currently playing it in a band of wind instruments with the youngest being 12 (i think) and the oldest over 20.

  • @tripleheshy he's dead,I assume any emotions his face had are long gone

  • @Syzygy60 Whatever floats your boat my friend.

  • @Syzygy60

    Not dead, missing in action!

  • @tripleheshy Yep, thanks to jazz band in eighth grade and an open-mind to music, I loove jazz and actually, when I found Glenn Miller and how awesome they are, when I went to the 5 dollar sale section in walmart, I was able to snatch a Glenn Miller two disc set for 5 dollars. :D How about that? hehehe, Go Jazz!

  • @tripleheshy well does 14 count as a younger generation? olol just kidding. jazz= 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000(modern)^2

  • @tripleheshy i'm the younger generation ;D

  • @hanojekcim Very nice!

  • this cant be his original band , they are all tooo young

  • yeah, this orchestra was put together ten years after he died, and they get new players all the time.

  • @km426: You're right. This vid is from the "European" Glenn Miller Orchestra. They play in lisence from the Glenn Miller foundation in the US. There are 3 or 4 orchestras wolrdwide which are allowed to have the name "Original Glenn Miller Orchestra" as trademark

  • I love this piece so much. Especially the Glenn Miller arrangement (i.e. this one) I also like the Bari sax ;-)

  • Yes Glenn Miller's plane was lost over the English Channel and was never found. The Band was not on the plane with him. There is a Miller Band which tours to this day in the U.S. The Estate leases the Name for a fee. There are other "Name" bands still working though the original leaders have passed away. I sang with The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. There's a Jimmy Dorsey, James, Shaw,Riddle, Herman, Basie, Ellington, Les Brown, Krupa and other "Ghost Bands" still working. Just a little history...

  • Good Band! BUT... This is NOT The U.S. Miller Orchestra. This band is from Holland.

  • So?, we all know that trust me.

  • Please enlighten me... How would we ALL know that?

  • Umm cuz the glenn miller orchesta plane crashed in 43 so i doubt this is his original orchesta. Maby i was wrong, not everyone knows where this one is from.

  • actually daDEXO only glenn was in the plane and it crashed in 44 not 43 i know because my family is related to them glenn was my great father in law

  • THESE GUYS ARE GREAT.

  • the sax player next to baritone saxer looks so sneaky!

  • he has an odd way of playing it,

  • Really White you mean...

  • this movie always makes me think of 'a soldier's story'. at the end when they are marching, it is playing over the credits.

  • Let's go BLUES!! F**k 'Nucks

  • get em up blues fans!

  • greatest song ever go BLUES its going to be GREAT tonight

  • I try to get the guys in my Jazz Band at school to do all those movemnets like swing around and kina dance a little and they are all chicken and don't do it!

  • so then these guys out there enjoying themselves in their nice homes and well payed lives that are far above yours are faggots?

ever stopped to think that maybe YOUR the fag?

  • Uhhh....what?

All I was saying is no normal high school guy would want to do those gay dance moves. That's all...

  • Exactly what is normal? Just because you wouldn't do those moves doesn't mean you're normal. Enjoy the video and music or don't watch it.

  • Oh my gosh stop with the comments all I'm saying is that no high school instrument player would ever want to do any dance moves. They just want to play it, at least in my experiences anyway.

  • @iVideoiTube

Really? Our Jazz ensemble's all over stuff like that.

  • i love that trombone section!!!!

  • I really like the elderly gentleman with the tenor (or is it bari) saxophone. His demeanor seems to be that of benevolent enjoyment. I bet he'd be cool to talk to. He seems to really like performing, which is great.

  • tenor

    ew, that's a late response

but better now than never probably

  • he sounds german

  • Lets Go Blues

  • These Glenn Miller videos are beautiful. (The music's not bad either.) Thanks for sharing!

    Zazoo in Oklahoma

  • YEah, my youth jazz group does a lot of swing like this, totally cool This is a great arrangement

  • great song and beat. who is the drummer? i like his style of light touch of playing and drum breaks? what or where can i find more of his playing on you tube especially to do with drum soloing?

  • Not sure but try Peter Danemo

  • i tried that and that wasn't him in the other videos i pulled up, but thanks for trying to help anyway.

  • His name is Anton Burger

  • I can't hear this song and not think of the St. Louis Blues. just the opening horn part gets me amped to watch some hockey.

  • your exactly right!!! lets go BLUES!!!
