Hi im trying to learn it at the moment but have got stuck on bar 49 either my music is wrong or ive missed something because it tells me to play completly different notes to what you play but yours is right. I can read music but i never did music theory (taught myself piano) Its on the bottom line it says play b f# b when you play d a d ? do you know where i can get a correct sheet for it if this is wrong and if im just being stupid please enlighten me because im well confused :s thanks:)
@abzz47 I don't think your sheet music is wrong. I don't have music or a keyboard in front of me, but I'm betting that's where I changed the left hand notes precisely because I didn't like the way the original sounded. Everywhere else I play the sheet music straight except for accidentally reversing a couple of right-hand notes due to faulty memory...corrected shortly after this recording.
@SwayingTree65 oh ok thanks well yours sounds waaaaaayy better than what the sheet music is telling me to play so i think im gonna play your version :) although its kinda hard to see what your playing at some parts lol ill do ma best :D thanks
play how you like it! not how anyone else likes it or tells you how. This is a dandy cover don't let anyone tell you differently. Keep making beautiful music for yourself, friends, family, and even me
I'm half a pianist as u r - it's my hobby, let's say, it's a way to relax while crushing back home. In my modest opinion, ur technique isn't bad at all. I like the way u play. How did u record this? I mean, when I try to record my upright piano with a mic I always get awful noise in the background. Thx a lot and keep on playing!
@MatteMacPiano I placed a Zoom H2 digital recorder on the treble side of my grand. Paradoxically I find better sound with the lid closed. Depends on acoustics in your room. Flip HD shot video and then I synced and mixed them together. Just play around with locations, gain, etc.
@MatteMacPiano Hey! I'm currently doing my music technology degree, i could give you some advice if you want to record your piano! Just drop me a message
by the way everyone...people play the way they want to... and thats what makes the song beautiful... its not just about whether you stroke or punch the keys..its your choice...its about the emotion felt in the song either way... this is a beautiful song and it has been played in a beautiful way..whether he has stroked the keys or not! :) Thankyou
i love this song i am doing it for my diploma level at the moment i am up tot he end of page two so pleas egive me some commwnts to help! Your video is great...if you stroke the keys ..you dont get the full effect...but theres no point punching them either! If you stoke them..there not much emotion...if you punch them..the emtion is never there! x :D my name is csjk..im 12 lol!
If you had heard this with seeing it being played, you would have found it just as beautiful as the rest of us. You should know by now, that how you play does not matter if you can play something that sounds good. And personally, I think to anyone that can play something this beautiful, how they play it really doesn't matter to them, and it shouldn't to you.
You know what? Because of this video of yours, I was able to learn my first Einaudi song on the keyboard. :) If not for the awesome (and probably very difficult to set up) camera angle. So thanks! And by the way, you play most amazingly.
I think I just might like your version more than the original.
It sounds ok. but not that great. The stuff about it sounds different if you glide into a key, its bullshit. it just looks weird. you shouldn't have to move your hand that much, it make its harder and doesn't make it sound any better. Your hand is suppose to be up right so you don't need to move your hole arm. Its all in the fingers.
@tztztztztztztz Excuse me, do you play piano? If you do, you obviously have no heart when you play it, or else you would understand how the music affects the player that is in love with it.
Sounded nice, but I agree maybe next time move the camera so we can still see your hands play the piece (which is very nice) but cant see the head rocking (which I know you do because ur feeling the music, but as listeners we can't appreciate it to watch)
I like the music but the video is so annoying, with your constant head rocking and retarded hand movements. I wish you just played the damn thing like a normal person!

@tztztztztztztz If it bothers you that much, open new tab and continue doing what your doing. Don't criticise such an amazing piece of music and cover with something as trivial as that.
@tztztztztztztz Excuse me, do you play piano? If you do, you obviously have no heart when you play it, or else you would understand how the music affects the player that is in love with it.
I've got to say, I actually like your version more than the original. It's so nice I listen to it all the time to just calm down and relax. Thank you. :) x
This is such a moving peice, you play it so beautifully. I cant explain it, it's real music. You have such a talent, i'm not a pianist so I dont know what all the comments about stroking the keys are about?! But whatever you were or weren't doing I was so lost in the music I didnt even notice the hand movements. Gorgeous.
When you play piano you shouldn't stroke the keys. You need to feel emotion but you're not gonna hit all the notes if you float across the paino. If you put all the weight into your finger tips and relax the heck out of your arms, then you won't pound on the keys. You'll also get a way more professional sound.
Thanks, but I'm content with the way I play. You perhaps missed my phrase "for me." I'm not trying to be anything I'm not. I have no aspirations to be professional. That ship is long sailed and was never in my port. I play after work for my own enjoyment and hopefully my friends and family. If people on YT like it, fine. If not, fine. I've played this imperfect way for 35 years now. It works for me. It's just a hobby. Take care.
@SwayingTree65 Your hands don't look like you are old enough to have played piano for 35 years! Then your head comes in to view haha. Great job on the song though one of my favorites to play, I think I sort of play like you, never had any lessons so I bet my technique is terrible. I'm just looking to get the sound out how I want it though.
Thanks for the nice half comment. To answer your question, I'm not saying there aren't different or better ways. I'm an amateur hack. But I strike the keys the way I do because, for me, how I hit a key dictates how the hammer hits the strings, which is how I get feeling and emotion into a song. If you glide into a key press instead of punching it, it sounds different. I also think you're getting a different view from the overhead camera.
SwayingTree65, this is an amazing cover of I Giorni. This is by far my favorite piano piece in history...it's so emotional. And I feel like you take it to another level emotionally, and I love it. Thanks so much for covering it. Wish I could play it like you!
Huh? It's far from perfect, with some wrong notes & dynamic issues, plus back then I hadn't stretched my hands to reach the 10ths, but that's me. Like it is in all of my videos.
Wonderful .. I play piano too and i would know what you think of my composition (everybody) : Through the milky way - Joris Astier. Thank you everyone ;)
My friend has just asked me to learn to play this for him yesterday... I said that I would if it sounded nice... I wasn't sure after listening to the other versions but this made my mind up XDDD
I've got the sheet music and learnt up to the 31st measure.... I'm a slow reader so it will take me a while but I hope to get it as good as this ^_^
I herd this and vowed to play it. It's amazing you play it so well. :) I have just finished learning the whole thing. Unfortunatly i have a keybord not a piano. But I go on the grand at school as often as I can. :L xx Kepp up the playing.
You play so beautiful, I can't believe you did it without sheet music! I'm learning this piece, and I just wondered how you used the pedal, because it's indicated in the music on certain bars, but do you use it throughout? And also, how do you get the camera above the keyboard like that?!?!
Thank you. It's not that technically difficult. There are some reaches and stretches (this vid doesn't show the 10ths in the left I now play). The trick is in learning the touch to emphasize the right notes. This vid was after about 12 days of work; I think I'm a bit better now a year later.

@tztztztztztztz why do you make such frivolous comments?
Does it really cause you such immense distress that he is completely entitled to play the piano in his own style?
And if it does, for whatever reason, keep it to yourself - as what benefit do your comments have to anyone?
