Definitely can't walk up to someone. I can talk to people, but I'm just...weird I guess. I don't know how to start a conversation, and I guess I don't express myself very well with people I don't know well. And I'm very quiet, whether I try to or not.
the best thing to do is just go up and ask a person out. yes you will get rejected more then you would like but the more you do it the chances are you will feel more relaxed and in all probability you will meet someone you have alot in common with
