  • in which drugstore you find NYX? what about supermarkets? P.S. I loveeee your videos!

  • i just open the bottle and test it . every one opens the first bottle anyways lol !

  • can you use eye shadow primers as concealers?

    or concealers as eyeshadow primer?

  • I love all your videos so it's hard to pick just one. I like your recommendations on drugstore and less expensive cosmetics and I appreciated the

QOTW: Makeup Struggles. I'm an older woman and I struggle with what makeup to wear so I don't look garish or like I'm trying to look like a teenager. I have trouble with darkness around my eyes and your tut helped me to learn what to do with them. I appreciate all the help! Thanks!

  • Monistat shaving creme is a dupe for smashbox photo finish primer! I've tried it and it's amazing! Look it up reviewa on YouTube !

  • Such a great informative video, I think that I would have ticked ALL these boxes.. well, except for foundation shade or blending eyeshadow, but yeah. Thank you so much :)

  • Apparently someone has told you about it lol.. sorry !

  • hey.. i don't know if anyone has told you this yet Em.. but Neutrogena has a new concealer that is in the same packaging as the b.b. concealer you showed in this video *with the cream on top and the powder below it*..

  • i loveeee ur videos emily! i love how u recommend drugstore and high end makeup.=]

  • I don't know if maybe you just get more excited but I noticed that you than to sound more aggressive and a little loud when you're not doing makeup tutorials... like in videos like this one. ;D

  • haha yeah I guess i tend to be louder when I'm not applying liquid liner or something like that :D

  • lol, i can understand that. i mean you'd naturally be more cautious when you don't have something pointy waving in the vicinity of your eye

  • First I want to say I love watching your videos! Second I was wondering, I have really dark under eye circles and I know you like the Bobbie Brown concealer, but Neutrogena now makes a cream concealer with the setting powder and it is kinda packaged the same way as the Bobbi Brown. I was wondering if you have ever tried that and if so if it is comparable to the Bobbi Brown? I have the neutrogena one but not the Bobbi Brown and I really need to find a good concealer.

  • you're amazing!

  • Thank you so much for your suggestion on the Bobbi Brown concealer with powder. I bought it on thursday and tried it on today. It works great, it covers very well. It was difficult picking the colour, but I got advice fron the girl at the shop. The only problem was that it creases a bit as the day goes through, so you have to soften it with your finger from time to time. I think it was a good investement, even though the jar was 33 euros here, in Spain.

  • omg i just wanna say that i tried doing the cut the lashes in half thing and IT WORKED! U ARE A GENIOUS! THANKS

  • can you do a video on cutting the eyelashes and putting them on

  • Many drugstores have an excellent return policy

if the product isn't quite right and will do their best to make sure u are happy and satisfied w/the product

...a satisfied customer is inevitably a return customer

    :)

  • Oh, also those liquid liner 'pens' are annoying becasue they don't really apply well over base/shadow. It is important to point that out, I think. A good gel or liquid liner is a much better option...

  • Setting the concealer w/ powder doesnt cause it to settle into fine lines?? That's my concern...I have noticed that when I smile or laugh, my concealer slightly settles into those lines...I really don't want to be stoney' faced to keep my concealer nice. Haha. :)

  • ur makeup looks especially pretty in this video!

  • i loved the disclaimer box - warning! soapbox. lol

  • should you still set undereye concealer? Because whenever i do that it just look like I have wrinkles & goes into any line I have so should I just get a new powder? Or is that always going to happen no matter what powder I choose?

  • your teeth look really white!

  • Sonia Kashuk also have a good one, concealer palette with regular, green tone, red tone, and a powder 9.99

  • i LOVE Nyx Concealer in a jar!!!

  • By far the MUFE lift concealer has worked best for me, and I have really bad dark circles which are much matured.

  • :) lol @ 'much matured;

    you're too funny :D

check out Eve Pearl's recommendations on salmon/orange concealer it works best

    honest.

  • You're great!

  • Emily, I love your makeup on this video. It's lovely!

  • keep up doing to good work! :-) x

  • much help! thanks!

  • ive worked in department stores & the lights r deceiving! i think the best way to test foundation is to put it on in the store, then head out into the natural light with a mirror (& this next part will sound a bit weird, but it works best) push ur head back for that double chin thing and if you can see an orange line clearly separating ur neck colour to ur foundation colour, its the wrong one. if not or if u wana go a bit darker and its barely noticable, then woohoo u got the right shade =)

  • I totally agree!! I just bought a eye concealer and it looked good at the department store but as soon as I tried it at home the color was to dark!

  • Its best to match you Foundation to your neck, there is nothing worse than a pale neck and a dark face. You can always add colour with bronzer :). Place test patch on neck or jaw line and the look at it outside, you will know immediately :)

  • i just saw an add in Glamour mag for neutrogena mineral sheers concealer kit that looks like it could be a knock off of your bobbie brown kit. Thought id let u know :)

  • Great video thank you!

  • I need my second hand to pull at my eyes so I can't hold a mirror. I have trouble applying liner to my upper lashline without getting it on my lashes therefore I have to close my eyes and can't do it with open eyes :( any tips?

  • love your idea of using half lashes when in a rush also I want to look for Bobbi Brown or Nyx concealer.

  • I have dark circles that I can not cover at all :(

  • Mine is concealing too, but blemishes rather than dark circles - do you have any tips for that? :)

thanks so much Emily, very informative videos

  • Does she work for like a radio station or newscastor station?

her voice is amazing like that.

  • she works as a TV news reporter/anchor

  • she is a newscaster

  • ur makeup looks great

  • Very informative and great tips!

  • Thanks for all the advise. Maybe u can do a video regarding understanding foundation shades and undertones. I know i am usually a medium beige but there are so many medium beige for pink and yellow understones andI get so confused!

  • i love QOTW! :-) I wish I could hear what you would have said about controlling shine if that had gotten higher votes. I am always getting shiny so fast!

  • Urgh I have so many wrong color foundations, it pisses me off

  • LOL i know what you mean!

  • oh same!

    waste of money! >=(

  • the outer v I have small eyes and small lids

  • I'm learning how to conceal but I'm 47 and have bags too. Now the bags are really my struggle. Any suggestions????

  • i totally agree with the concealing dark circles. i have so much trouble with that!!! :D

  • i <3 your videos....

  • Thanks for the video, Emily! I happen to be one of those viewers who only buys high end...so THANK YOU for covering all bases!!!

  • i take my powder along with me to the store and try to find a comparable product since my dior powder is breaking my bank! thanks for the vid!

  • blending eyeshadow

  • good question, and very helpful video as always! :)

  • And just to add, I recently bought a cream concealer quad from Sonia Kashuk (it has three cream concealers, flesh toned and brownish salmon and a weird yellow green, and one powder for setting and it's /great/)! And it all comes in one neat little package with a concealer and powder brush. :) It was a great investment, has an Alure Mag prize, and cost only $10!

  • Wanted to add a quick Q I forgot to do so in my other comment earlier. I have fine lines under my eyes in addition to darkness. The NYX concealer I'm going to try would it work for me and will setting it w/ a powder just make the lines more obvious? Would do you recommend? TY!!

  • TY for all these type of make-up segments. I have bought a few products that you have recommended in the past. I'm into the drugstore products myself. It's really good to see that you can get the same results/quality using the cheaper brands as oppose to the expensive name brands. Awesome Job!!

  • great tips!

  • Emily, how do I determine whether my skin tone is warm or cool?

  • If I' m not mistaked, if your have red undertones in your skin, like if your are more pink, then you have more warm skin. If you have more yellowish undertones then you are more cool.

  • If you would like to purchase nyx cosmetics, i can sell them to you for cheaper (than cherryculture). Let me know if youre interested :)

  • I really appreciate your educated approach to makeup. You are really down to earth and helpful.

  • nvm, found it! :D

  • thanks so much for this i have thrown away like 5 pairs of lashes from frustration. im gonna try the half lashes

  • i suck at applying false lashes. Ive been practicing but i just get frustrated ugh!

  • number one is picking lip color shade and 2nd is applying false eyelash

  • The only reason that I haven't bought drugstore makeup is the whole matching thing. I guess I've always paid more for the matching. The other day I took a chance with Revlon colorstay in ivory and it looks sooooo much better than the expensive Clarins I've been buying. So happy I took a chance on the color!! I am always the lightest color in any brand I've ever used. I wear sunscreen every day under my foundation to keep the sun off my skin!!

  • I have the hardest time with liquid liner. My lashes are naturally long and curled and its hard for me to get behind the lashes to line and im good at cream liner but it doesnt seem as dramatic or clean as liquid (If you can understand that). this was a great QOTW

  • I have the same problem. Try holding down your lashes gently with the stem of a Q-tip, it works well for me. =)

  • Im going to try this, Thanks!

  • Great tips.

    They really helped me. :D

  • Cream eyeliners are very easy to apply. Smashbox has the perfect brush that you just dip into the color, and touch the lashline in small sections. Repeat until the whole lashline is complete. I swear by it since I rarely have time to go slow and perfect liquid liner before having to be out the door, and once a liquid mistake is made...very hard to fix without messing up the whole eye...

    Good luck girlies!

  • where is the blemishes one ? i voted for that one . it was something like covering blemishes?

  • Great tips as usual, thanks Emily !

  • How did I miss that question? I would have chosen something else if possible by answering my eyebrow grooming - powder vs. pencil.

  • i have laugh lines, and i have yet to find a cream that helps diminish them. UGH!!! help!

  • mine is def eyeliner i found a great product clinque cream liner its great and picking foundation

  • your face looks so flawless what are you wearing as far as foundation.

  • Thanks for all those great tips. I'm gonna pick up some false lashes at Sally's. I like your lipgloss, you look beautiful in this video.

  • I was going to ask what would you recommend for those expression lines around the lips i'm those type of girls that tend to smile a lot however, I've noticed that the lines tend to show up like little cracks which is annoying because it tends to look like facial hair any ideas I've tried powders and primers has this ever happend to you!!! I would really love it if you could help me out i'm desperate. Other than that I love your videos this one was very helpful thanks.

  • On the eyelashes, I've heard and tried cutting my fase ones in half and applying the whole lash just in two pieces on each eye! That will help in applying them instead of one long strip it's in two!!

  • Hi I have both Bobbi Browns cream concealer and corrector. The corrector I am sending back I ordered it in light bisque, will order it in bisque. What color do you wear in the cream/powder concealer? I have sand, not sure its right for me.

    Thanks

  • there's this new neutrogena product that is very similar to the bobbi brown.

    like 2 in 1

have you tried it? thanks for the great tips

    love your videos:)

  • great tips! and one of the reasons i think you rock is that you do mix things up re: higher and lower end products. that's what i do myself, so the variety is really appreciated!

  • for the liquid liner...revlon has a new liquid liner which is like the covergirl and i heard it's a lot better.

  • Something I find helpful when it comes to liquid liner is to steady a finger on your cheek. :). When picking foundation I go to places that I know have a good return policy, like Walgreens or Rite Aid so I know that if it doesn't work for me I can return it and exchange the product for another. So I usually guess about what color I need, take it home and try it out and if it's not right I have an idea of how much lighter/darker I need to go

  • thank you for this video it was very helpful!

  • liekd teh videoo a lotttt

  • are you wearing your revlon lip glaze gloss?

  • thank you. i have very dark circles. thanks love your videos

  • I have trouble with either putting too little on or having a cakey, crepe-paper look under the eye.

  • You can alleviate this problem by moisturizing the eye area well and then applying a face primer like Smashbox Photo Finish. This smooths out the skin by filling in the fine lines so concealer doesn't settle in them when you apply. Also, try warming the concealer by rubbing it between two fingers before applying.

  • you look gorgeousss!

  • luv the video

  • I don't have dark circles, I have eye bags. I don't think anything short of an eye lift is going to hide those. Any hints would be greatly appreciated, I don't want to go under the knife.

  • Apply Fast Response eye cream from MAC after applying an ice cube under your eyes 30 sec.

  • First Comment! Thanks for the video-- very helpful

  • great video emily!!
