I agree with Crisis Core > FBBSVII (I give FFVII a 3/10 BTW). I picked CC up just so I could bash it to hell, but I was actually amazed how good it was. I was really surprised how likable the characters were, especially Zack. Hell, for the first time I could say that I liked Cloud (who wasn't a whiny bitch!? WTF!?) and Sephiroth, they did a good job giving those two some proper backstory.

I personally love FF7, I was unknown to this game genre and this game introduced me to the RPG world in the best way possible. I don't think I can call it the best RPG because there are some many wonderful RPG's and it's all subjective but it's special to me because of how my gaming life changed.

People always talk about how overrated the game is and how rabid the fans are, yet I see more people bashing it than praising it on a daily basis. People love to hate it, and I don't think it deserves half the hate it gets. Sure it's not the pinnacle of art some people are making it out to be, but I find it to be a very entertaining game with interesting characters, good character development, a very cool plotline and fantastic music

@Kazumaster To be more precise, I think most people who do bash FF7 are doing it as a knee-jerk reaction to the fandom. You don't see this much hate for any other video game on the planet, yet the game really isn't bad at all from an objective standpoint. It may not be your thing, but it doesn't change the fact that the game was unique when it was released; the graphics, music and story-telling were fantastic by video game standards back then.

@Kazumaster Well said. That's VII's problem; it's hurt by its own success. It got so much praise and sales at first. Therefore, Square pumps out SEVERAL "related" titles (a few of them being not that good). So, people see VII everywhere. It's enough to anger several people if, like you said, it's "not your thing". What was originally great is hindered by overwhelming hype/sales for not that amazing later installments. If it was just a standalone title, I bet it wouldn't have gotten so much hate.

I don't think anyone dislikes your videos for your opinions, their main problem is that your videos profess to be something they aren't. They don't make actual arguments, they just say what your opinion is.

To illustrate, there are things I don't like in the Compilation. The biggest example is the explanation of Cait Sith, that Reeve has a special ability called "Inspire," that brings inanimate matter to life.

It's like Hollywood shutting down because no movie can outgross Titanic (which Avatar will most likely do soon enough).

Final Fantasy VII is my favorite video game of all time right now, but I am not convinced that it is the best game the video game industry can conjure, let alone RPG's, let alone Square. Probably the real reason why I still consider it my favorite game is because I am not able to afford every single game you can think of that you consider better that I don't own. FFVII is my favorite because I have responsibilities to take care of myself financially.

Therefore, I am not able to afford consoles or games like Super Metroid, Xenogears, Skies of Arcadia, most Mario titles (even though I don't like Mario for stupid reasons tied to me being a Sonic fan), or most great Zelda games like Ocarina of Time among others. To top it off, some of these titles both mentioned and not are really hard to find and expensive to buy. And in this economy, it would be unwise to go after them all. All I can do for now is to hope to stumble upon a better game.

It's amazing how alike our views on FF7 are. I would also give it a 6/10. And I also thought Crisis Core was great, especially since it retconned everything I hated about FF7.

I'm rather concerned about FF13, since I'm hearing a lot of stuff about it, like how Lightning is supposed to be a female version of Cloud.

Lightning shouldn't be the only thing that you should be worried about. There's word going around that F13 is an utter failure. Ask the folks from 2ch and they'll tell you what for. They apparently spent over 5 years working on one of the most linear, and user-friendly FF to date. The dungeons are completely straight-forward (with little to no multiple branching paths), inescapable battles, simple battle system; it goes on.

So I don't know, AnonX, is this one of the games on your to-play list?
