Luigi Tenco was so handsome and very talented, and he was going to get married to Dalida. Why would he kill himself? I don't understand.

simply because he lost (San Remo) compition in 1967, he introduced himself to the public in that festival with his song (Ciao Amore Ciao) but the public didnt accept him at all, and he didn't achieve even the 10th place !!, he couldn't bear that and suicided the same day. you can read the full story in official website of Dalida. Later Dalida sang (Ciao Amore Ciao) for his memory, a song that she gained a (disc d'or) for it, you can see this song on youtube

@Gonzales1962 thank you very much for the information. He seemed like a very impulsive and sensitive man, that combined with alcohol and tranquilizers apparently did the job...such a shame... Is it true that Dalida after trying to take her own life, found out she was pregnant and had to get an abortion which ended up badly?

Well, that is not mentioned in the (official biography) of Dalida by Orlando, I advise you visit the official website and read the summary of biography in english. Ironically (ciao amore cioa) which was a massive failure for (Luigi) became one of Dalida's masterpieces , singing it in (French, Italian, German).

Dalida's frirst attepmpt of suicide was also in 1967, 2 weeks after Luigi's deep grieve

@weeladybug I think he was murdered and the person or persons who did it made it look like suicide. There are many unanswered questions. .... &that is not the first time something like that happens. The ITALIANS are experts in that sort of thing. Someone wanted that young man dead. And because of what happened to LUIGI, DALIDA was scared for life. How sad !!!

@chezbamboo007 No no, he left a note explaining how it was bitter for him to lose San Rimo festival competition of 1967, why would they have killed him? he suicided the same day of announcing his loss, you can read all the story in the official website of Dalida under biography.
