Hey everyone, our recently launched music blog has a post about late-era Talk Talk we’re trying to get out there and hope you might enjoy. Just search SongStacks on Twitter.
Hollis quit music as it conflicted with being a father. The music helped me through my troubled youth, and more respect now as I look at my 3 sons and admire his attitude. Although I'd LOVE a revival tour ....
@theBESTelvis mark hollis made a solo album some years after laughing stock...on similar lines but not as good i thought...nothing since...that's over a decade ago...the albums were the antithesis of commercial so he might have been driven out of the business...he might have left because it is a business and such a disgusting business...or he might have thought he said everything he had to say...we can only guess...
god dam.. this is what you call live music... just wish I had been more into these when I was younger then might have been privileged to have attended this gig. FUCK, Hollis's voice... WOW
Colour of spring es uno de los mejores discos de 1986 y creo q d toda la decada del '80! Hollis es un monstruo, Harris y Webb son 2 musicazos!!! y Give it up es una de las mas grandes canciones del rock!!!
As a music lover of over 40 yrs I have learnt there is great music in every genre but music that doesn't date marks the artists as brilliant and this band is one of them
I adore this singer for decades, but he seems to have lost connections to the world, didnt he? he is a kind of mysterium where has he gone? can anyone tell me what went wrong with him?
The singer has a few solo album's . They are slower and moodfull. It would be cool to see him in an interview, maybe play a lil its cool to see someone get into it's songs
Under rated yes but I always thought TT only wanted to be appreciated by those who really understood that pandering to the masses was a betrayal of what they stood for
We will be lucky to see the talent this band had again. With Weezer and Gwen stef doing covers lets hope a new generation of fans will find out what true talent is all about and search out the original and sublime artistry that is forever Talk Talk.
My opinion is, that Talk Talk was on peak on what I call "music" with Color of Spring.....the album was handmade....Hammond B3, Accoustic guitars, real drums, strings, percussion, etc.....but still songs not too complex and not too simple E-Music like their starting career. The following "Spirit of eden" was half the way into insanity, but still the deep character of those kind of music...
@unlikeanyotherhuman My feeling is he just wanted to live a normal life. I read someone's comment he got married, and had a family so I wouldn't necessarily say he became reclusive, no more than you or me I guess—just not in the public eye any more. Yeah, it is a shame for us music lovers but I'm guessing he is happy whatever he is doing now.
Right on I love this group and song !!! I went mountain biking for a week in Crested Butte when this song was released, and listened to it endlessly the entire trip! Drinking at the end of each day at the Red Lady brewery and loving this group and track!!! Old school with no suspension!!!! Great memories!
Saw a 3 in 1 koncert in copenhagen in the late 80's, first and on the same scene New Order after Talk Talk then Depeche Mode, incredible evening!! Talk Talk was far the better liveband. Have got all of their stuff on the i-pod and so many years after it just keep growing on me!! Truly a great band!!
i am 28 years old now. of course i as the others are the children of 80s.. but something shocking me until today is i juz looove this song with juz once played then juz favourited it. dammit
THIS band is MASSIVE... in it's range of material and moods and the execution of each song is so... beautifully artistic.
UNDERrated to be sure... but that is almost a testament to their depth and musisicianship. This particular cut reminds me of Steve WInwood and Traffic.
YEAH... and like all excellent musicians, they sound at least as good live as recorded.
CHeers to a great group... and a sound thay will never be duplicated.
its funny you should say that, i live in folkestone (u.k.(just in case you're not)), we have a pretty good live music scene and theres this college aged kid who performs at open mic nights that sounds just like him, i mean eeriely like him. makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up
