@eatmeaters What is "being multicultural" when it's at home? You don't know what my race or ethnic group is, but I think you need to understand that there is no cultural excuse for animal cruelty. It happens in all cultures, and is always unacceptable. If it happens in west, south, east or west, by black or white, by anyone - humans should not abuse, tease and torture wild animals for food - it's perfectly easy to simply kill animals humanely and to eat the flesh whilst it is still fresh.

Why do you think that your culture is right and the only right one? In asian cultures, when you eat live things, it's fresher than eating tasteless reheated frozen food. They want it to be as fresh as it can be. It may even be dead, when something dies, the nerves still contains some electronic impulses which causes it to twitch or to move even though it is dead.

@Jeff100309 We're Animals. We eat shit smaller than us. Most of the shit you see getting eaten alive cannot feel pain...In the wild animals don't humanely kill their pray. The only thing that sets us apart from them is intelligence. We cook what we kill..Not because society says so. But because cooking it kills dangerous bacteria that would cause us to get sick. Animals have natural antibodies to prevent things of that nature.

@WeeItsNookies What makes you think fish, cephalopods etc. don't feel pain? Technically, they do. Even if they did not feel the pain of being cut up (which, by all accounts, they do to an extent, though their brains are not the same as mammals'), simply holding them alive, out of water is something they would try very hard to avoid if they were able to. So however you look at it, it's cruel, and though we are above them on the food chain, it doesn't mean they should be put through this, imho.

I'm chinese (yes I know, live squid a japanese dish (I think)) and you know, we like our food as fresh as possible, that's why fish and meat are often still alive when buying them. in a restaurant, we can choose fish out of a fishtank. so yea. alive=fresh!
