I still think of the number of women assaulted by their partners, family members & people they know, regardless of race & the under-representation of these cases in police reports & media coverage. Unfortunately this case has grouped together many causes. Perhaps there has been issues of racism at Duke. The Sex and Gender issue is what this case is about. Unfortunately many women in the sex industry are not protected by law but this is not one of those cases.
Notice I used the term "Gender" instead of "Women" when it refers to issues: Women's issues are men's issues too. Men should stand with women against sex violence. However this case serves to discredit victims of real rape cases. The lacrosse players (who may be themselves sexists horn dogs for hiring an escort) did not commit rape.

Each case should be viewed separately. But, I worked as a psychotherapist in a max prison. I found hundreds of men I felt got a unfair hearing. In one case the man was being held 3 months beyond his mandatory release date. I could prove he was innocent. My boss said I should keep quiet and not help the "N... Faget pervert". I was later fired when I became a whistelblower.

True! Yes, there is a lot of injustice, and the system is not fair. From sentencing guidelines to tort rules, it all needs to be overhauled. I have seen first hand how some DA's try to use "showmanship" to drive a jury. And the evidence takes a backseat. Luckily, in the case I served as foreman on, the two youngsters were acquitted. The DA didn't do a good job and left way too much doubt.

Gr8 video! Legislation is inadequate & the media often sensationalise cases of sexual assault.You're right to point to the racial aspects involved in many portrayals. I still think of the number of women assaulted by their partners, family members & people they know, regardless of race & the under-representation of these cases in police reports & media coverage. Race is often a massive element in these cases, but I still believe that sexual assault is primarily about gender & power -globally.

However this case serves to discredit victims of real rape cases. The lacrosse players (who may be themselves sexists horn dogs for hiring an escort) did not commit rape.
Blaming athleticism and men is not the right path. Sports can serve to build character and health. There have been links between steroids and violence.

Each case should be viewed separately. But, I worked as a psychotherapist in a max prison. I found hundreds of men I felt got a unfair hearing. In one case the man was being held 3 months beyond his mandatory release date. I could prove he was innocent. My boss said I should keep quiet and not help the "N... Faget pervert". I was later fired when I became a whistelblower.

True! Yes, there is a lot of injustice, and the system is not fair. From sentencing guidelines to tort rules, it all needs to be overhauled. I have seen first hand how some DA's try to use "showmanship" to drive a jury. And the evidence takes a backseat. Luckily, in the case I served as foreman on, the two youngsters were acquitted. The DA didn't do a good job and left way too much doubt.

Funny, I did not see any white college students anywhere in the USA stand up n start cheering when the case was dropped,like the black law students did when OJ was found innocent about ten years ago.. And white america is racist.

TomD84: I'm white, I disagree here. YES, this case was "black and white" but soon you forget the main reason this got out of control was because a WHITE PROSECUTOR was desperately seeking re-election and saw an opportunity to get "black votes". Lessons should be learned from cases like this. No reason to start about OJ, especially when TheNMN (Black) saw the injustice of those Duke players and made a clever video to attack Race in America today -- Learn from TheNMN: put race aside!

The case became about race before I spoke on it. However, I agree that the case should have been about justice...which it wasn't...which is why I was pissed enough to create this video. And if you're waiting for me to defend the NAACP, you should watch "Image Awards?" Thanks for the comment.

Nifong: conduct investigation & if negligent then disbarred & possible civil penalties; if found malicious- disbarred & both criminal & civil charges filed.
Accuser: its pretty clear she has some severe psychological problems (she's taking antipsychotic meds & also using illegal drugs), so she should be ordered into a treatment program & get some help for her illness. The new DA has decided not to prosecute.

a year was taking form their lives not to mition the hundredsof thousands of dollars they will never get back, thank god they were rich because if they were not they would be in jail now. thats the usa court it needs to be fixed
