@siebenny He apparently thought that he was abused as a child by his stepfather whilst living in Texas, but he couldn't remember it (he thought it was a repressed memory). Without music, he claimed he would probably have 'gone after' his stepdad, so music really was escapism to him.

Pretty Mary K is the song title to TWO of Elliott's songs. Everything's Okay has alternative lyrics to ONE of them (the one on New Moon). The two songs with the same title sound totally different.

Elliott was apparantly recyclying a lot of old recordings during the Basement sessions. He must have really liked the title Pretty Mary K, used it for the other song on Figure 8, and while messing around with this one, just renamed it. I don't have both recordings present, but I would not be surprised if he just recorded vocals and tweeked the song over the original
