  • league of legends brought me here

  • Oh my GOD

I was just looking up at a Blue Ringed Octopus video and thought this kind of fish was fake?

    But now there's living fossils?

OMGWTFBBQ where the fuck have I been..

  • Can they let you pick them up?

  • these funny little things are almost cuter than puffers

  • lol i'd like to see a non chambered nautilus xD

  • I have a nautilus shell :) beautiful ! I want to swim with the nautilus, me too !

  • @AuronWarrior they're similar yes but they're two distinctively different subgroups of cephalopds - they're not the same and yes ammonites are extinct

  • haha. they have one on pokemon, and you find it where the bikers are by Opliucid city!

  • seeing these guys make my hungry for some reason O.o

  • غريب

  • @fofo50011 Indeed

  • are those eyes!?

  • @Naturepheonix well someone...are they!?!

  • i found one of them today, well the shell it had nothing in it and has the same colors as that one its nice :D

  • Call me dumb but, wow!

Last time I saw this was from a book with ancient animals. I thought these were extinct?

So when did they discover these?

  • They've been around since pretty much forever. Look up the Frilled Shark too, those are about as old as these guys.

  • Yeah, and who knows what we'll find once we get to the deepest point in the ocean.

  • @FILIPINOTUNER

    Ammonites and nautiloids are different.

  • Yes I know. I just thought that they both died off at the same era, or time.

Nautiloids didn't survive because of their shell. Ammonites still exist today because they were able to go down deep enough into the ocean to protect themselves from all the meteors, harsh waves, and predators.

These were and still are, small enough to withstand high oceanic pressures. The way that their shells are shaped helped them survive high pressures.

Correct me if I'm wrong though.

  • @FILIPINOTUNER

As far as theories go, there is no current fullproof explanation as to why some cephalopods survived but some didn't, especially since the differences between ammonites and nautiloids are minimal at the most. It is, however, the ammonites that died out, the nautilus species alive today are nautiloids.

  • I gotcha.

I confused myself in the last comment with ammonites and nautiloids.

And I confirmed myself with wikipedia. :)

  • I'd like to swim with the nautilus one day. Very nice.

  • those thing are prehostoric [forgive my spelling]

  • i thought these things are extinct lol, there endangered i guess

  • they are living fossils... you've been playing too much pokemon mister!!! hehe

  • @ohemeffgeee If they are living, they aren't fossils :p

  • @Sifalot A living fossil is an interesting concept. Just imagine if a fossilized animal was still alive! xD

  • lovely animal but this noise is horrible

  • oh no bad quality underWATER~! you dumbass

  • lmao darth vader meets the nautilus

  • hahahaha that's what I was thinking 2 XD

  • im like obsessed with these! theyre so cool!!!

  • that thing is scary! i don't know why but...i am terrified of them

  • they get up to 8 inches.

    and they are really shy.

  • how big are they?

  • Try searching for Nautilus macromphalus and Nautilus belauensis. They are much smaller varieties, and the more thoroughly orange shell of belauensis is quite lovely.

  • They are shy and live in deep, dark waters. These fellas were gently brought up to 90' for us to see in Palau.

  • @EnjoysReality what do you mean brought up for 90's ? 90 metres? if so how would they do that?

  • great vid , i love this creature

    thanx
