  • You can be the smartest person in the world, but if an interviewer questions you long enough, they'll find something you're weak in and make you look like an idiot

  • hot

  • This girl does not shows optimism. She represents ignorance and -something way worse- stupidity, not wanting to think. That is clearly shown when she doesnt know and she's not even interested about where there were wars in that moment. Auscence of, ethics. Being ignorant is not relevant when you have something as terrible as that

  • This young woman is great. She gently bats away all the intellectual bullshit the interviewer lobs at her. I love Godard, he reinvented cinema. But this is when he started to believe the empty marxist baloney he was spewing. I'm sure at the time this gal was perceived as vacuous but to me she represents optimism and a desire for a better life.

  • It's frightening... Could you imagine, if already in 1965 you have people like this girl, how could be this dialogue nowadays?

    "- Hey, waz up?

    - cool...

    - true..."

It's sad, very sad. Things is getting worse.

  • @rebello24 yeah in everyday conversation... if you watch a formal interview between people today i believe they'll actually speak more eloquently

  • I always felt sorry for this chick. She'll be known to moviegoers forever as the Ignorant Miss 19, and she surely didn't ask for Godard's political harangue. I'd like to go on record saying that I admire Godard very much and think MASCULIN FEMININ one of his better movies, but this scene always makes me cringe.

  • Desolé - parles tu l'anglais? i understand what you've written but my french is limited..

the boy asking questions is doing so on behalf of Godard. he will have written them minutes before shooting so the 'actress' has no time to prepare. it's improvisation. he wants to see *her* responses as a french girl of that age. and it proves Godard's stereotype was correct: she's politically ignorant. the men in the film, however, are much more active and live non-hedonistic or america-obsessed lives
