  • Chuck Norris can play this song with just one hand!

  • Ow Mr Collins on the Drums :D

  • Phil Collins & Crapton - a suburban musical wet dream. Utter shite!

  • this video should have WAY more views! Great post!

  • Both versions are great!

Bob Marley created it, superb version!

    Clapton remade it, superb version.

After it, marley wasn't happy about it, because clapton gave the credits to himself.

Clapton said sorry, it all was good again.

So now you know the fucking story, they both are happy about it now.

    End.

    Great song!

  • @Donnygast i didn't know that :O

  • @Roelvvv

It's the truth. So theres no need to bother about all versions..;)

  • disco claptain :D what a fucking genius he is

  • ya mann rasta bumbaclot yeehaw to all sheriff killers

  • Eric Clapton is so manly that there's no chin under his beard, only another fist.

  • Collins claimed he’s a “drummer who sings a bit”. xDD no i can't agree with that. The man has released 8 studio solo albums and despite the small number sold more than 150 million copies of them. And yet include another 100 mill plus when he was a leading vocalist and member of Genesis. xD If that's a drummer who 'sings a BIT' well, let us pray that ALL drummers in this world could sing a bit of that too;) Collins is pure magic. He has done some of the most beautiful and perfect songs ever.

  • clapton,collins,east and preston...wonderfull combination..

  • Yes! souvenirs, it's good. Thank you for memories.

  • haha 80's stuff

  • Clapton shot more than the sheriff ;)

  • that bass line at 2.33... fuarrrrkk, gets me hard everytime.

  • HE' S GENIUS AS WELL AS PHIL....... How come they are so GREAT? Sometime this world ain't fair to me?

  • HONKY! SLOWHONKY!!!!!!! IS NOT!!! JAZZMUSIC!!! THIS IS!!! TERRIBLE!!!

  • I think, that version "I shot the sheriff" is the best

  • where are these fuckers who doesn't like the vid? Clapton & Collins are Music-Gods!

  • Phil Collins is great.

  • seriously this is claptons best performance ever

  • thumbs up if you think chuck norris looks like Clapton lol

  • YOUTUBE SEARCH JIMI HENDRIX KILLED CLAPTON!!

  • 18 people are sheriffs

  • xD i was listening to this while watching madness combat... XD

  • Clapton-Collins : one of the best convinations!!

  • With Phil Collins? Yeah, they rock both. I love Cassic.

  • Clapton = chuck Norris

  • @kylecrx1 Clapton > Chuck Norris

  • "Kill it before it grows". Vote local and global to legalize marijuana! Change the systems or burn them down!

  • my two favorites singer together WOW!!!!

    love it simply perfection

  • Great combination! <3

  • Eric Clapton & Phil Collins <3

  • Clapton is GOD!!!!!!

  • Eric clapton, Phil collins, and is it just me or does the bassist look exacly like eddy murphy?

  • JUST WONDERFUL

  • Eric Clapton,un verdadero maestro ; junto a otro genio...Phil Collins.

  • THOSE TURNAROUNDS ON THE BASS AT THE END ARE IMMENSE

  • Bassist is Nathan East

  • WHOS THE BASSIST??

  • WE SPELL GOD!

    C-L-A-P-T-O-N

  • I Shot The Sheriff also sung by Eric Clapton and Phil Collins But Originally it's a Bob Marley original hit song

  • hahah phil and clapton are really awesome and playing one of the best reggae song ever :)

  • Bobs Marleys version is better!!!!

  • @Drewpenney No It Doesn't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Drewpenney I agree.Marleys version is better because is Marley ,who makes the song especial.

  • collins on drums. main reason for attending the show was to watch him play drums for an entire show!! same as when he played on obert plant's solo tour.

  • Clapton (guitar), Nathan East(bass), Phil Collins(drums), and Greg Philliganes(keyboards) = AWESOME BAND

  • Sorry Bob, this is best performance of Shot the Sherrif ever!!

  • Bob Marley shot the sheriff, but he didn't shoot the deputy.

Eric Clapton shot both the sheriff and the deputy, and got away with it!

  • wow phil collins rock the drums.....cool !

  • I would have shot the deputy. Hands down.

  • is the keyboardist Greg Philliganes???

  • legends of music thses two. keep on rocking lads youve got plenty of fans left. modern day artist, stand back and listen to the pros.

  • is the bass player Nathan East?

  • @ciprianmagda Yes that's Nathan East. That was a brief tour in 1986-87. I saw

it at MSA in Indianapolis, April 1987. Robert Cray opened. AWESOME!!!!!

  • i loved how the 70s and 80s musicans like eric and phil could play together

  • do you still got this vid i would really love if you could send it to me

  • If you've never seen Clapton live... Go!!! Videos do not do Clapton live justice. He is simply amazing and his guitar playing seems to get better year after year. And yes, Phil is the man. He is one of the most underrated drummers.

  • underrated? r u fukin kidding me

  • Yes I mean that by main stream folks who do not know Phil's bio. Not among other musicians. If you've seen Phil Live, If you know who Brand-X is If you know who played drums on Robert Plant's first solo album after Bonham's death, you know. The Genesis Show in 2007 a Collins Era Genesis fan and friend actually said to me "Well Phil is not exactly known for his drumming." so yes I say underrated. Phil is phenomenal.I know it, you know it. To others he is the guy who sings "In the Air Tonight

  • Phil is one of the most underrated drummers of our generation. Brand-X was very progressive. His drumming with Genesis, specifically their early material with Gabriel was incredible. Only die-hard Genesis fans know just how difficult that music was to play to. His style is so tasteful. The singing, songwriting, and piano were used later on. He takes such a beating over going soft with the pop with late Genesis and solo. In fairness, that transition isn't rare nor does it define a career.

  • Phil was known first as a drummer. That's how he came into the spotlight. Only later did his vocals and songwriting talents come into the spotlight. Of course, fans know that he is a phenomenal drummer. No exaggeration. Kudos to whoever said Clapton can only be truly appreciated live in concert. That's another subject by itself.

  • @ThePrimeDirective TALENTS LIKE THESE COME AROUND SO SELDOM, THANK GOD FOR THE ERA OF MUSIC I GREW UP WITH, TODAY'S MUSIC IS MOSTLY AS THE BRITISH WOULD CALL, "RUBBISH"

  • @BLUESMANRONCHICAGO

I'm only 19 but I agree, mostly all I listen to is late 60's and 70's music, occasionally liking a song from the 80's, 90's or today but it's MUCH more seldom now days and still really just doesn't compare to this time of music..

  • @sirbikesalot growing up in sixties influenced my singing and playing so much, got to hear all the great British groups as well as the old blues masters such as Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon and others that so greatly influenced the British invasion, and to this day i honor them in songs I do with my band

  • @SterlingRe Word!!

  • who knows phil just for singing that song is definitely a poser. who cares about them? lol

  • Eric is still a great guitar player...No question about that....but I believe he was at his prime throughout the 80s in his playing, His songs seemed to be powerful and solid....now that he has gotten older, the songs have changed, however still enjoyable.

  • R.I.P BOB MARLEY.

    One OF THE BEST

  • Wht genre is this? Folk? Early rock? ..however ther's some funk and Reggae happening?! What'cha think folks?! (or better yet Eric and or Phil)?

  • Bob marley wrote it...so there is some regge, and clapton adds his blues/rock guitar playing so there ya go

  • definitely 100% reggae

  • Phil Collins kicks ass! Hes not off beat hes very ontime with alot of odd-time signatures. Awesome vid!

  • Whahahaaa it's really hard to believe that Phil Collins actually had hair on his head:P !! Eric Clapton and Phil Collins are two of my absolute favorites!

  • Phil is just a brilliant, brilliant drummer.

    Offbeat and unique.

Simply a gem in the percussion world :-)

  • I shot the sherif. Then I shot the deputy. I didn't like the way he looked at me. they deserved to die when they looked into my eyes.

  • thats nathan east on bass , right?

  • Correct & Mr Greg Phillinganes on the boards

  • this makes me sweat, thats how great it is.

  • esse back vocal é sensacional

  • Ahhhhhh, I am halfway around the world so far from my home, if not for you tube, I would not be feeling so good right now.

  • my favorite version

  • Listen to how Phil completely backs up that guitar solo and plays with it. Great improv.

  • Some of the more inspired and fresh feeling drumming I have seen from Phil. So much of what you see is so rehearsed with him these days. This is rehearsed but it is loose with the "off the cuff" bits complimenting the guitar. Clapton and Collins play very well off each other. It is nice to see when Collins take some more chances in his playing. I saw this tour. LOVE IT!!!!

  • I totally agree, man! It's like .. really important for the other players not to "over"-play other peoples solo's!

But the way Phil - and all the other guys - plays on the guitarsolo, is just rockin' it up! -Kind of a lost art!

  • man, you so right.

  • i listen to this song every time someone mentions "hollywood undead" to save myself from a bad-music-heart-attack.

  • hollywood undead is the shit ok some of there songs are bad but they are good

  • shhh...2 gods are talkin'

  • phil collins is a beast ! lol

  • he ist still a lefthand player

  • was collins a lefty?

  • I LIKE THIS VERSION!

    CLAPTON IS GREAT!

  • Phil!!

  • it isn't better than Bob's version; just different. I know Bob and Eric and Phil agree.

  • I agree, this version is good, really good. But Bob Marley's version is just a bit better, as you said.

  • and whats your opinion a skin color?

  • Collins is the perfect drummer for Clapton.

  • Clapton and phil collins? Didnt know they collaborated....better than the Bob version I think

  • i agree

  • Comment removed

  • Collins produced one of his albums and toured with him.

  • Really? both of them are great.

  • The swing of Rock.

  • i wrote this song

  • just did

  • i love eric

  • As smooth as it gets.

  • Amen brother.

  • My favourite Opeth song is probably Windowpane.

  • SO ARE YOU IDIOT.!!!!!!!

  • Great performance! Bob Marley would be proud if he could hear it. Eric is great as always and Phil does a great work on the drums. All they are great musicians. But i've a question about the keyboardist:

Is this Greg Phillinganes, who played with Toto?

  • yes, he played with clapton's mid 80s band and on those albums.

  • Thanks

  • yes it is.

  • i do agree the crossroad version is great, and actually i do think that it s better than bob, the man is just too classy for everyone hi got too much musical knowledge

  • Gracias por el autor que nos heredó esta melodía y felicitacones a Phil, a Eric y a todos los integrantes por interpretarla.

  • Comment removed

  • has any1 noticed tht Phil Collins is a popular drummer wen they do supergroup stuff and things of tht matter?

  • Phil Collins rocks!!

    so does Clapton!!!

  • wouaaah phil collins m3elem fla batterie alm3elem

  • Hell yeah to Nathan East. Creative and Funky basslines from the man! :)

  • I must admit that this is not a great version, the 1985 behind the sun tour version was a lot better, and Eric's version on the crossroads DVD from a few years ago is amazing, his playing now is in another league to here!

  • I much prefer Jamie Oldakers drumming on this one, with the 16's.

  • yeah sergie forever

  • I think they call it "single stop bendings". A nice effect but maybe 30 are a bit too much.

  • You state that comment but call yourself a Opeth fan. Screw off you stupid little child.

  • What has Opeth got to do with what I said? Oh, nothing. I was stating a mere observation, you hypocrite.

  • I saw your page and Opeth was one of the bands you had the most videos of and the comment on Clapton's timed playing you displayed was stupid to say. Its because Opeth fans are fans of the Progressive Metal genre and us Prog fans understand alot more than fans of other metal genres and wouldn't make absurd comments like yours. But I maybe realized that you are a stupid child that doesn't respect classic music.

  • "Fuck you prick" and "I studied classical music" just don't go together in a sentence :D

  • i must say, i do rather agree you.

    nuff said

  • just did

  • it's even better than the Marley tune

  • marley and clapton are not comparable. they have a different style of music. clapton is not aple to play a reggae music as marley.clapton is a god of blues and marley was a god of reggae music! (sorry for the lack of language i'm not english)^^

  • well said +1

  • But it's still Marley song, NOT clapton's

  • mhmm ahhahaa, it's marleys songs, but eric clapton did the sort of thing, like when hendrix did dylan's all along the watchtower, or mayer doing king's everyday i have the blues (in la) sort of thing. nothing beats the original, but its great how they can sorta do their own thing with another song :D

  • i am a huge clapton fan, and of course "musically" clapton is more talented, but bob marley was one of the most important artists of all time, an international hero...

  • prick Marley is much much better

  • in the bass... nathan east.. el capo jeje...

  • Checkout STARK CIRCUS on myspace.

  • Oh well what to say? Phil is the man, Clapton is the man, this video is just awesome!

  • This version is so funky!!

  • i really like this version

  • cool chuneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Remember this song. Great performance. Phil was fabulous on the drums. Such an amazing guy, so talented.

  • Great post! 5 X 5. . .

  • Eric + Phill = Awesomeness!!

  • Hi mrdodo,

A BIG thank you for this... quite superb. Erm, is it possible to increase the sound gain please?

I am a longstanding personal friend of Eric Clapton since I was a schoolboy (and drummer) and aside from Neurosurgery, I am a Rock and Jazz Drummer. You can see me on drums on YouTube playing with Eric Clapton, The Eagles, Pink Floyd (David Gilmour in particular); McCartney; Santana et al... but, on which videos?!

    HAGD :)

    Zab.

  • A couple of guys that I know sung this song over and over.. It got annoying

  • its a tribute to bob marley u stupid fuck know music before u say something

  • Unfortunately, yes. Just check around the actual worldwide music range... Learn before say anything!

  • Phil is a bad ass on those drums

  • Surprising or not, Phil Collins is one of the best drummers. You can find faster virtuosos today but Phil's goal is his humbleness and his time.

  • Agreed !!!

  • This song is cool but the original(bob Marley) is the best

  • Bob Marley wrote and performed this originating in mid 70"s i believe.
