  • How many people from America?

  • brought in some cross over fans. hell yeah lol

  • Not a big fan of Kid Rock's music, but the guy loves what he does. He opened for Aerosmith in Charlotte then ended up playin acoustic with a guy I know at a chicken wing joint 2 miles up the road while Aerosmith was on stage. He also had The Dickey Betts band open for him for an entire tour around this time. Never bought an album, but I won't hate on him either.

  • Phish is a good band. Phish fans on the other hand seem like they suck.

  • @ulobomber If you think Phish is a good band wouldnt that make you a fan?

  • @LazyFunGi

Nope. I am not a fan of good bands. I am a fan of great bands, sucka!

  • @LazyFunGi It would make him a Phan.

  • how can there be hate for kid rock? has anyone honestly listened to any of his songs besides american badass? Hes gotten so good at being a soulful person lyrically and musically. say all you want, but kid rock is a great musician, and very under rated.

  • douche chills

  • you can hate kid rock , but he is one of the few people in the biz that always seems like he's having a good time and is happy to be there. i saw him with like 300 people before he got famous and he rocked the little house then, he kinda sux at rapping but he is pretty creative and entertaining, and not afraid to speak his mind. i also like many genres of music so i get it.

  • not phish's finest moment.

  • its phucking PHISH they do what they want...they have phun and enjoy themselves and sooooo does the crowd soooooo you should tooo.

  • Comment removed

  • @everyone. If you didn't notice the crowd is really enjoying themselves..)

  • hahah i totally agree- i was kind totally losing my shit after the Rappers Delight and fish was on his knees pretending to well...you know... geez though what an epic run of shows.

  • yall r jokin right? kid rock ---um rocks! phish is is just a very , very , very bad, poor, sorry, cover band of the greatful dead

  • @jeff0041 grateful* and your grammar and punctuation is terrible and phish doesn't cover the dead...

  • @jeff0041 alright whatever you faggot! phish is the best band ever your just a jealous piece of shit. and so is kid rock, except he is a dirty redneck piece of shit

  • Fuck Kid Rock.

  • I was at this concert. I am from ATL, GA and I spent from 94 to 2000 following the Phish religiously... and when I left the show I was in one of the best moods that I can remember.

I thought that Kid Rock was the most appropriate choice for the debauchery that is found in Vegas.

The nest night was my last show. It was Trey's birthday, Sept. 30, 2000.

Phish is simply not the Grateful Dead nor Widespread Panic.

They are truly rock stars in a main stream sense, but with jamband sensibilities.

  • gotta love that pure tubescreamer sound Trey adds to Angus' solo

  • @vibeguru007 your a idiot

  • delivery for kid........2 eight balls and 2 hookers backstage

  • lol this looks like the 90's hahahahahaha

good thing we have HD now lol

  • my wife and I saw this show celebrating our anniversary in vegas in 2000. before the show out in the lots I spotted kid rock in a golf cart & called him over, met him and got a great pic with the wife. he wa a pretty cool guy and hung in there as the crowd around him grew until security pulled him out.... it was a fun night:)

  • Saw some of the comments and think this really just comes down to: Phish is in Vegas for a show, see Kid Rock, they all introduce themselves, hang out and have a good time and the band says come sing a song with us at our show tonight. It's hillarious and great.

  • Honestly, I've never cared much for Kid Rock, but this was a great cameo! That GFR cover really kicked ass, esp. with the fresh lyrical substitution ("Now all them strippers of Mandolin Bay / Was lookin' for Kid Rock but they all went home with Trey").

  • so let me get this straight. The band PHISH thinks Kid Rock is worthy of being on stage with them.... but the "phans" don't. Phans are delusional. They're worse than WWE marks. IT'S STILL REAL TO ME DAMMIT!

  • kid rock is a tool.

  • Also Kid Rock said jamming with Phish was the high point of his career. Thats really something considering dude has jammed with the likes of The Allman, Brothers, Bob Segar, Jerry Lee Lewis, Hank Jr, Too $hort, Eminem, Marshall Tucker, Run DMC, Aerosmith, Ice Cube, D Nice, Yo Yo, Prince Vince, Wes Chill, Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, ZZ Top, etc. Those are some of the biggest names in music history from country, rock, hip hop, rap.. and he still puts Phish on top..dude knows good music.

  • @josh1988ist That would be the highlight of his career... Kid Rock hasn't done shit; hasn't ever made one decent piece of music.

  • @GDarkstar74

Well, considering you probably haven't lisened to ANY of his music I don't see how you can make that assessment. True, alot of his shit is lame, but his underground stuff kicks ass. And saying the highlight of his career was jamming with Phish is an honor for Phish considering he's jammed with so many legends from every musical genre.

  • look up phish and jayz?

  • wow, hard to believe it's been 10 years since we rocked Sin City......good times that weekend indeed ;-)

  • It was now 10 years ago !!!

  • hookers and blow....anyone?

  • phuck yea,deff sick!!

  • This was such a fun weekend! I will never forget it!

  • I know some people were hangging out with some funguy's that night

  • The only problem with Kid Rock coming out at this show was they cut the set short so they could go out and party.

  • what happens in vegas, stays in vegas.

  • I'm not a big Kid Rock fan myself, but I think this just shows you how great of a band Phish is. So versatile.

  • now all the strippers in mandolin bay....was lookin' for kid rock....but went home with trey! lulz

  • i dont like this. i love phish more than anything but this is weird. nothing about this feels right

  • this is much better than Phish w/ Jay Z.

  • i saw kid rock driving around in a golf cart about 2hrs b4 the show started.

  • Right Tommy, you were at Big Cypress and don't even know how to spell it!

  • It was over ten years ago and we had a 40ft RV and it took us 16 hours to go something like 23 miles to get in..... So I spelled it wrong.... oh well

I'm much more of a DeadHead, but Phish was my wifes Dead and I enjoyed them lots!

  • I think I'd be a little annoyed if I was at a Phish show and had to sit through 10 minutes of Kid Rock's bullshit.

  • @tbarton00

I was at this show. Indeed, this KidRock segment sucked ass.

  • @opiestaint fuck u ass blood

  • thank you

  • @tbarton00 well they can do what they want its not like he stormed the stage they asked him to preform

  • I was there and the crowd went crazy and Kid Rock brought the house down..... I had great times with Phish... Oswego, Vegas, Big Cyprus, and many more, but I also prefer the Grateful Dead!

  • @tommytheboy14 --good shit, big cyprus musta been nuts i wish i wasnt 7 when it was happening haha...but the Dead are the original bad ass traveling american band so idk someone would thumbs down this

  • Hah, you guys are such pansies. Sexist lyrics wah wah wah.

  • annhialated

  • might see somethin like this in Detroit this fall at cobo

  • I don't see what this has to do with the end of Phish.

Maybe the fact that they got wasted in Vegas, but they're just up there having fun with Kid Rock! Respect!

    They can collaborate with anybody

  • Greatest Bar Band Ever !!!

  • yo gene, i'm from toledo ohio. WOO!

  • Was at these shows.....not a big Phish fan more a Brent-era dead phan, but this double encore was the best of those two nights....vegas baby

  • theres really no reason to be mad or uptight about phish playing with kid rock. They are just havin phun. I thought phans just enjoy the show and vibe. Its no big deal if they play a song or two with a not so great musician.

  • i agree captain jack. those guys are phuckin awesome no matter what they do. i saw them just the other day and they are still doin it

  • This didn't spell out the end for the band, they had already announced they were going on hiatus before they played this show.

  • everyone BUT trey isn't really having phun

  • I was up close that night....I remember about half the people being stoked at the novelty...for a few minutes....if you could see the facial expressions on everyone (but Trey), they seemed pissed. This definitely pissed me off. Two songs?? Stupid. Kid Rock is a rip off....weak.

  • this is bullshit, kid rock isn't fit to be in the same state as phish and they invited him to perform with them? wtf

  • this is fucking awesome..I love the collabs that phish come up with..I think at a certain point though, Kid Rock forgot he was playing at a PHISH show..they weren't simply his back-up band..I think it wouldve been better if Phish wouldve followed his chorus of "we'll pull your panties down"..

  • Come on, they're just having fun.

And these are fun songs live. They may not be really technical or progessive or whatever, but they get the crowd going like almost nothing else.

Just listen to the phans singing along. Whether or not you like to admit it, you'd be singing too if you were there.

  • No doubt, me too bro. What a piece of shit.

  • Spelled out the end of our band? What ever brah.

Phish just wanted to have fun.

  • ahh phish kicks ass

  • I am happy at every show.

  • I'm sorry but as much as I laugh at Kid Rock's music, I like the guy and this looks like a good time. I wish I was there.

  • This is the boys entertaining themselves...AT THE EXPENSE OF YOU.

    Summer tour's gonna be magnificent.

    Can't wait.

  • to everyone who "cant believe" Phish would do this or that they are lowering themselves... believe it or not Phish may have phans that dont look like you or may not lead the same lifestyle. They listen to other styles of music than just jam bands ie Boston, Grand Funk ect... let them do what they do... that being said, hope to see you on tour...

  • I was there too! Good times, good times.

  • i was at this show i actually saw kid cruising the lot in a golf cart b4 the show

  • kid rock is bad ass, i wish he would have strapped up a guitar after the first song he looked geeked wanting to play some real music with the boys

  • thank you. you just saved AC/DC's song.....i almosted died when celin dion did it

  • Funny, AC DC never sounded beter and neither did Grand Funk!!

  • kid rock has an incredible sense of music. if you haven't seen when he invited trey to join him on snl for only god knows why, you need to. my only problem is that I can't find it. can anyone help?

  • As Fishman said, this is just Cock Rock

  • I think this is a cool song selection, but I would rather have had one of the guys from Phish sing it instead of Kid Rock.

  • Not me.. Kid sings this particular song better than anyone in Phish could. I don't care for Kid very much, but this was alright and PERFECT for Vegas.

  • were comin to your town

    well pull your panties down

    new lyrics ala Kid Rock

  • KR "how many people here are from america?"

    awesome

  • kick ass man!!!!

  • This is why I love Phish. You never know what they're going to play or who is going to be there. I doubt anyone at this show expected Kid Rock to show up!

  • I was at this show--In my opinion, the kid rock mini set was the major disappointment of the evening!

  • Don't get me wrong, I am no Kid Rock lover. The guy would be nowhere if he didn't have a knack for choosing good samples. I just like the spontaneous nature of Phish shows.

  • we saw him in the lot and thought he was just here for the show. Then when he came on we were surprised. I guess he's a friend of Trey's.

What a crazy night this was. same for the next night

  • phish 2008 fall tour lmao Yonder mountain string band fills the gaps best tour running right now be safe KIDZ see ya on the lot wookie 4 life

  • im saying where is that dude and on what ?

  • Been to over 100 Phish shows, including this one. I was about 5 rows back when KR took the stage, personally I'll never forget him running around the stage. BTW did I mention this one was in Vegas, good town for a post-show party. A big part of Phish's charm, the ability to bring on KR and rock like this.

  • was there a point I was supposed to get from that?

  • had same feeling

  • we dont believe you

  • my first show......haven't been the same since!

  • amen bro. i was there and thought kid rock kicked ass. i mean c'mon , kid rock on stage w/ phish singin ac/dc in vegas. thats phish for you. ive followed the dead and phish for quite a while now but kid rocks 'I Am the Bullgod' is one of my all time fav songs. btw, i believe this show included the last 'fluffhead'. yeah, i hope trey can stay off the junk.

  • i saw this show last week in reno. i thought that the singer from acdc looked young though.... phish is the best ... i have tickets to all there shows for the fall 2008 tour.

  • dude, wtf are you talking about, phish broke up in 2004 ...

  • im saying what you on i need some

  • lol

  • Trey announced the hiatus the next night. Related? I think so.

  • phish is the greatest band ever to walk earth. some of you might be too dumb to appreciate this. angus? yeah he was great. he is nothing compared to trey. NOTHING.

  • phish is not the greatest band ever to walk earth. they are good, but think before you talk.

  • what the hell would you know. hey at least you can tell they are good. i should take it easy on you. good for you buddy.

  • alright that is just absurd. Trey himself would tell you that Phish was not nearly as good as the Grateful Dead or Frank Zappa, two of Phish's biggest influences.

  • @GDarkstar74 Frank Zappa and Phish are so wildly different! I don't understand how you can determine which classic groups are "better" than the other. Led Zep or The Who? WHO CARES? They both rock, and I'm glad they both did their thing!

  • @migbee ehhh led zep sucks. Phish isn't that great either, but better than some. I don't care what someone thinks is better because there is a clear, discernible difference and answer to what and who is actually better, which some people are incapable of recognizing because their knowledge or interest is inadequate for making an informed judgment. People act and follow by trends and popularity; they're informed by popular opinions which far more often than not are misinformed, uneducated ones.

  • @GDarkstar74 From your subjective viewpoint... What exactly makes you think that your opinion is more valid than anybody else's?

"I don't care what someone thinks is better because there is a clear, discernible difference and answer to what and who is actually better"

Based on what criteria? Obvious bullshit. Get off your high horse.

Q: WHAT DID THE DEADHEAD SAY WHEN HE RAN OUT OF WEED

    A: MAN THIS MUSIC SUCKS

    ROFL

  • @migbee mmhmm.. i'm sure you know best, being a jamband kinda guy and all. You must be the coolest, 'cause you like phish and all. I must not know what i'm talking about; i'm just a musician with diverse musical interests. Rock on BRA!

  • @GDarkstar74 Wow, you really think you are something special, don't you?

Note how I detailed the subjectivity of music, and then please explain to me why you don't think I have diverse musical interests?

Lol... and you calling me a jamband guy, Mr. Grateful Dead himself over here... pot calling the kettle black..

  • @nedboy7 Angus is completely different than Trey, not to mention 15 years earlier. Don't get me wrong, because I fucking love Phish. I just think the two musicians are pretty much incomparable. They were going for different things.

  • @migbee....... i see your point and feel its reasonable. its just that one is a solid rock guitarist. the other one bends time and space. but much respect to angus.

  • @nedboy7 i wouldnt say nothing. angus is the fucking man

  • @Pepper2Jason you responding to my comment from 2 years ago? hey if you wouldnt say nothing maybe you should stick to your advice. you aint gonna convince me that angus can for a second be compared to trey.

  • @nedboy7 chill out. angus was before trey and im not even disagreeing with u. respect those who come before u if they deserve it. and angus deserves it

  • @nedboy7 ac/dc and angus young make phish look stupid

  • @vibeguru007 I am sorry did you say kid and angus make PHISH look stupid, THAT IS THE FUNNIEST THING I HEARD since the GOP put palin on the ballot

  • One big difference between Phish and many, many major touring bands was that most bands tried to perform and put on a great performance for the fans. Phish always seemed to want to just have a great time playing music. Great musicians, having a great time playing their music, just automatically translates into a great performance on its own.

  • @reburgnairb Could not agree more! Cheers!

  • will never top ac/dc, but hes good

  • are you saying you think Angus is better than this goofy red head Trey? Just curious. Are you nuts if so? Peace

  • Kid Rock is a fraud... He had confederate flag in the back of his stage at a concert in Michigan in 2004, hes FROM MICHIGAN!!! THE NORTH, he sucks! Phish should be ashamed that they had this guy on stage. We need Phish to return.

  • kid rock might not be the best but as any real phan knos phish can make anybody n anything rock..wish id seen this live

  • I was at this show...you might have seen me. i was the kid with the ticket stub in his hand.....

  • good cover of great song. that's all it is.

  • oh and admit it, you all liked kid rock when he dropped his first song.

  • QUOTE:

"I'm kind of hesitant to share this one cause this definitely spelled out the end of our band, but it is what it is. (more)"

I thought the set with Jay Z playing big pimpin was THE END. I personally think the collaborations were PART OF WHO PHISH ALWAYS WAS.....ALWAYS WAS....

    My 2 cents...

  • Stop hating and talking about something you don't know about. This show was great. We, the crowd had a blast.

  • This show was smokin before he came out. This put a damper on the epic show that was happening, but the roof did almost blow off this bitch when he came out. I became a kid rock fan this night.

  • You guys need to get over yourselves this is a sick video.

  • I love Phish more than anything, and this is cool. It made me happy to see Phish mingling with pop and rock stars because it meant that the grassroots movement wasn't being shunned and perhaps certain commercial entities wanted to embrace it; and maybe not for money.

  • this was the 2nd best show I ever saw until kid came out. It was still pretty fun but killed the heavy groove they were workin. set I and first half of II are must haves

  • I was at this show, I remember a lot of energy from the crowd that night...

  • They were just havin' fun, don't read too much into it. I want to see the Fishman "Rappers Delight"

  • kid rock!?!? omfg it's sacrelege to have him on the same stage. i'm w/ mike--why?why?why?

  • dude, this is awesome. phish mixing it up for the fans to have a good time. a suprise they aren't expecting. it shows a bond that should be tighter between all music, every genre seems so clique and distant. i get so pumped up every time i see some mainstream media folk jamming out with phish, as lame as it may seem.

  • so weak, why phish? why?

  • haha thats a little harsh, but theres definitely a grain of truth to it...

  • it did kinda go downhill after that
