@virginiabassin For line I would suggest braided superline at least 50# test. I like to use a 6.3:1 gear ratio bait casting reel on a 7' to 7'6" rod with a lot of backbone, but a fast tip. Everyone has their own favorite brands for all of these, so just go with brands you have confidence in. Thanks!
I still don't get how most professional fishermen don't ever wash their hands. They grab the slippery fish and just keep fishing. The slime really bothers me when I fish. How?
@TheChivas03 The use of sypder wire braided is unequalled due to its strength and non stretch to allow a good hook set. Make sure you test your reel's drag setting before you fish. have your buddy or yourself hold the lure securely with one hand and gently pull the rod to see if the drag releases any line. If it does not, loosen the drag at least two clicks and test again. We have lily pads here in s. georgia where we fish. Bill P.

@dookiekong007 you really shouldn't be grabbing bass by their sides anyway. if you grab the lower lip, you won't have to deal with any of that slime.
