In fact, they specifically wrote the "separation of church and state" so that religion would never have a part in politics. While I would say that your last video went at least a smidge too far, I'll confess to feeling that way on occasion.
Nonetheless, until you start telling everyone who doesn't believe as you do that it is the decree of a maximally just being that they suffer forever for their disbelief, you are far from the most offensive person in the room. I'm an atheist, too, and I tend to accept reality, or try to. It's a fact that religious people aren't necessarily stupid. The mathematician John Lennox, to pick one example, is smarter than you or me. While I would say that your last video went at least a smidge too far, I'll confess to feeling that way on occasion.
Nonetheless, until you start telling everyone who doesn't believe as you do that it is the decree of a maximally just being that they suffer forever for their disbelief, you are far from the most offensive person in the room. That people can believe that and still be widely considered "moderate" confuses me, but then I was raised in a society where few believe that.

In my experience the "christian" people who tell the athiest / agnostic / scientific communities to shut up, are the very same people who bang on about freedom of speech themselves.
And of course they want safe sex notices taken down - the more people die of AIDS the more the christians will say it is because of their "sinful" lifestyles.
That and the christian view of the sex, and even just the human body, as being "dirty" and must never be spoken about.

Eddie, it's not just the theists that have a problem with your video. I've been an atheist for about ten years, and thought your last video crossed the line, and this one nearly did too. There is a HUGE difference between having a mental disconnect when it comes to religion and being an idiot. I know people, intelligent in every other way, who believe in god. I wouldn't call them idiots, but would certainly disagree with their beliefs. Your last video was offensive, you can't justify it.

Not all Christians take things to extremes, i dont believe in God because people told me to, but simply because I think he's real. I'm an atheist, too, and I tend to accept reality, or try to. It's a fact that religious people aren't necessarily stupid. The mathematician John Lennox, to pick one example, is smarter than you or me. Having to deal with intelligent people who accept absurdities is a problem that won't go away by insisting it doesn't exist.

I have seen this "freedom from offense" seen in the form of "freedom of criticism", which many right-wingers often use to say, because of harsh public criticism they would have been "denied freedom of speech". Of course that means to ban the right to criticise (of course only from those who oppose your world view), therefore freedom of speech, but these people are keen to say, that they are on the right side of democracy. Yeah, the "right-wing" side. Offense is no censorship justification.
