i have a baja warrior like this got it in pretty rough shape now it will almost get sixty stock motor extra insulator between my carb three inch exhaust and a thirty five tooth sprocket on the back wheel makes your eyes water every time and would burn your slippery belt drive
@northerbrewer Cool. Although I threw a torque converter on this so it keeps the rpms down anyway because it switches to higher gearing when you start moving.
@THEATOMICTWINKIE Pretty much. There's advantages and disadvantages to each. With this way the advantage is you still get the throttle return so you don't have to add a throttle return spring like you would if you took it out and you don't have to take apart the engine. The disadvantage being the engine still has to turn the extra weight of the governor weights so there might be a slight power loss compared to if you completely removed the governor.
Also you increase the chance that the governor weights could let go and cause damage because there spinning at a higher rpm, but I have yet to see this happen and I've been doing it for years on many small engines, but I recall reading somewhere that they could. Whereas completely removing the governor you eliminate this slight risk. As for affecting engine life I'm sure anytime you modify an engine from factory settings it will affect the life, I don't know by how much though. :P Thanks =-)
Although with both methods I wouldn't recommend holding the engine wide open for any period of time if all the other parts of the engine are still stock, because they're not really made to run at this higher rpm and somethings bound to give. :P Best thing to pair this with is a torque converter clutch because then you'll only be running at the higher rpm to take off for the most part, because it'll soon "shift" into high gear and run at a lower rpm.
I have a mini baja bike and I was wondering if you know any places where I can get new tires for it and a new throttle and throttle cable

If you would like some advice on engine upgrades please feel free to ask.
I have some baja tricks that might be up your alley.

@northerbrewer hmm, what kind of tricks?

Leave the governer intact and add a helper spring instead of what you are doing here.
This allows the governer to function and can get you up too about 5000rpm ( you will likely burn the head light out ).
Pull the cap off the idel set screw and you can richen up your idel a touch.
Remove the resistor from the spark plug boot.
There are lots of speed parts avaiable fro these engines too.
Many are already in easy reach on the Honda GX160 engine.

You need to throw more power at a TAV systrem because the drag is higher than a jack shaft,
You also need to adjust your gearing and more often tune the TAV with a different set of springs ( all depending on gearing and tyre size )

So does this does the same thing as loosening or taking of the governor? And does it affect the life of the engine? ( Nice video :). )
