I'm a female and even I understand how sad this video is. The first time I saw this vid I almost cried. It was sweet yet sad at the same time. It shows how lost some of the gay youth are, and the lack of understanding from their parents. I tell you what if my child came to me and told me he/she was gay I'd still love them the same. The dad in this vid had to find out the hard way. So sad... but it happens alot in todays society.
I got a story to tell, it's the story of my life when I went through hell, you see society hasn't change much these days, they livin in the past think were changin their ways, of thinking, now I take u back in time when 2000 is the year, I'm just 13 and about to find my fear, first time I drink at my best friend's house, it all starts with a kiss and now I'm feeling all aroused, I wish I could tell u my story has a happy ending but its not, I will see him one day but for now I'm proud to be gay
sad u can still see the hurt in his eyes even on this interviews talking about this song parents do need to be more supportive i love gay ppl and i understand

Im not gay or bi or nothin but i really like this song its very well done, deadlee is a great poet, but i do have many gay people in my family that i care about so this hits home
Don't like rap at all, but I do admire this artist and this video. Very brave and honest. The spoken word parts are spot on and carry a wonderful message. Kudos to you for standing up in both the Genre and in life and being who you are and using your talent to help others.
Rapper wise, eh not so great. content of his lyrics and emotional impact make it to be exemplirary poetry. As for the music industry I do not beleive Deadlee will get far (unfortunately) but I think he is adressing a very serious issue when homosexuals who come out at an early age are 70% more likely for suicide.
i love this video. this was one of the first gay songs i heard when i first came out as gay rapper. it really made me feel like i wasn't alone. this song is a classic. the video is brilliant. the lyrics are very poetic. i love deadlee because he does what he does and he doesn't care what people think. Bang!
c'mon people. is deadlee being gay the only reason you like him? i mean he is horrible. no skill at all. it's ridiculous that you people say he's good just becouse he's a gay rapper.
Define what is skillful and what isn't. There is a genre called spoken word, and it is exactly what this is. He simply speaking over backing music. It has a potency all its own. Saul Williams does this occasionally, too. He is also highly regarded, and he is not gay. Being gay has nothing to do with one's aesthetic capabilities, and any true artist would not bring that into question.
I think when it comes to issues such as these. Whether your flow is on track or whether youve got complexity in your rhymes, doesnt matter. Its all about the message, listen to Public Enemy, Flayva was no Nas or MF Doom, but he was all about equality for black people.
Wow. As a bi teen dealing with some issues this song really speaks to me. I hope every lgbt teen gets the chance to see this video, and that it has an impact on them.
Not really a fan of rap but this is something I could see myself listening to, didn't think there was any gay rappers but now that I know there is it's kinda kool
Lee im am glad to have met you ,Please keep up what your doing for the gay youth, this vid breaks my heart everytime i see it ,NO 1 IS SECOND CLASS STOP THE H8 { NOH8 } ..........
Sad. Parents need to be more supportive of their children and especially on a time that they needed them the most. And when they push them to far and they commit suicide, that's when they realize how much they regretted and will miss them, but it's too late.
This is a very tragic video. But the message is to be true to yourself and be who you are. Anybody who is thinking about killing themselves please seek out help even if you have to dial 911. If today seems hopeless there will ALWAYS be tomorrow and things will get better. Everything in this life temporary, no matter how bad the here and now is- change in life is constant- brighter days will come. Suicide is a permanent solution for a temporary problem.
oh my gush!!!! I like what this video implying for.People like them must have a place to be accept wholeheartedly. Because nobody chose that kind of feeling to fall in love with the same sex. And besides everything has a reason and purpose in this material world. Lets accept the fact that gays are part in this new world..And all of the nation must understand this kind of situation....very nice video!!!!! thanks for posting.......... I LOVE IT! =)
it's more the father, the man who is meant to love us regardless of what sexuality we are, that makes us feel ashamed of it. or at least where i'm from that seems to be the main problem. i can empathise with this video and see its meaning/purpose; but i'm scared.
fairyking, i've been in your shoes...your soul is stronger than their ignorance...don't take their hate out on yourself...use it as fuel to fight the good fight for yourself and gay folk everywhere...hang in there.
this song........ this song made me cry....... my father wouldn't listen and well now i barely talk to him..... thsi year (hahaha) i don't get a persent from him..... because they draw name and well mine was left out.... i've tryied suicde and i've cut and i've burned..... i was sent away becasue i didn't have a reason to live any more... thank you so much for this song!! thank you!!!
It makes me sick how society can be so cruel. Nobody judges straight couples like that and they have no right to decide what love really is. I "chose" to be gay the same day they chose to be straight. The way I see it is if God is love and He is no respector of persons...then that means love don't care who you are. This is the reason I want so badly to get involved in the young homosexual community...to stop these tragedies from ever occurring. Thanks for posting!
I don't listen to rap, but this song gave me a new perspective of the genre, it too can be sensitive and profound. Deadlee is an inspiring artist and he shines even in a slow paced song like this one. Also Micah Barnes contribution is great, and finally kudos to all of you who put this effort forth. Thanks.
I wish that he would just say that he is "gay" and get on with it. His messages are absolutely powerful, yet at the same time, I would like for him to market himself as just an "artist", simply. I really disagree with the whole label matter. Melissa Etheridge, Elton John, George Michael, Rahsaan Patterson, just to name a few record standard material that everyone can relate to. Gay rappers who are able to entertain would be ideal and instead of just role modeling. This world is way too serious.
Most of them came out after they were well known. Deadlee has the balls (just like Cazwell, Johnny Dangerous, Joseph Adam, and many more) to be honest in the begining and give us, especially youth, something to relate to. This is about my life. VIVA LA HOMO REVALUCION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love this video. It reminds me a lot of my life. the way my father acted. But it's been years and now he's fine with it. It's all in a moment of careless overreaction. Then when the rage subsides you realize, you'd still love your child because they are a part of you.
honestly, this dude is fucking wack. Yo, don't get me wrong, its all good he's gay and doing something he loves. But, yo, this dudes rhymes are fucking weak. Sure, he's got a good story. But, yo, come on, you gotta recognize skills, yo, DeadLee you lack them.
yo, I don't know who your listening to. but the mc's that I'm listening too got crazy skills. this dude is lacking skills. he sounds like a fake ass master p. this dude is your typical "look, if I have money i can rap too".... not so much. I agree that most rappers suck, place deadlee in this catagory.
I don't know much about rapping, so I aint even gonna say shit pertaining to that. But, although his rhyming skills might be a little wack, I give him props for having the nuts to open up to it and try - because of his situation, he is largely vulnerable to criticism and hatred from the homophobic majority out there. sometimes the ones we look up to, our elders, can use the guidance. its a hard thing to deal with when your mentor has trouble accepting you, who do you look to? This is powerful. Kudos.
Hey, just came across this piece - really a great job, Deadlee. I have never listened to rap before, but I'm keeping this one. Like the message, the video and your performance. Good on you.
As a Gay man from TX and I really don't have any idea what it is like to grow up like that, but I have to say this video really hit home for me. My Dad really didn't except me either. It just goes to show you that no matter what we are all the same.
Good video good rap. I like the rap especially and what it has to say and because its not bound to the rhythm it forces you to pay attention to the lyrics. The Music with that voice was also great, liked it alot.
Hello. I believe you can buy the CD at bombasticrecords (I can't put the link in this reply, but google bombasticrecords and you can get the link that way). There may be other sources but I'm not aware of any.
no se si quien colgo este video habla lee o escribe español el caso es que es buenisimo me gusta la manera tan real en la que enfoca el tema de la HOMOSEXUALIDAD CONGRATULATIONS
I loved it. You guys tied everything into everything else and it was just like wow! I'm adding this to my profile because it was awesome! Keep up the great work guys. Beutifuly done.
Wow! Nice to see Deadlee actually come up w/ something real. When I got his first album..it was okay but felt he's still finding his groove. This is a huuuuge improvement. Others to keep an eye out for...Soce The Elemental Wizard..DeepDickCollective (who I think are one hundred times better, if only they can get a really good studio to help enhance their trax) & Juha (although they're pretty much done. Sadly)
Although, I noprmally do not take the time to listen to rap, I did with this one... Totally freaking amazing! Hope you hit the top of the charts guys...
omg y do ppl have a problem with gay ppl. i mean its none of ur damn buisness who they kiss at night. i mean its not conatgious or anything. im not gay butr i have no prblem hanging out with my gay friends. i mean really do u have nothing better to do with ur life than to critizie ppl for who they like.
My Friend ... Why do you Give a fuck What other idot, cunts " pussy luckerrs think ??? fuck them , ther are all in HELL if relegion what they talk about !. becouse they shoud not fuck a pussy without marrag any way , so all of them in hell with there sluts. keep doing moive and dont worry about the mother fuckeres . if the do not like it let them fuck them selfs.

Welp, I'm openly gay and never considered kids/ guys living in the 'hood'. My own ignorance in my own lifestyle.

Hey, just came across this piece - really a great job, Deadlee. I have never listened to rap before, but I'm keeping this one. Like the message, the video and your performance. Good on you.

Awesome song and video ...really speaks to the hate gays have to deal with from society and their families. kudo's!!

I love that Deadlee is an openly gay ganster rapper. SO MANY rappers, football players, ministers are gay and go around condemning everyone else.

As a Gay man from TX and I really don't have any idea what it is like to grow up like that, but I have to say this video really hit home for me. My Dad really didn't except me either. It just goes to show you that no matter what we are all the same.
Keep, up the fight!!!!

This is great I love that we(LGBT) have rap music now.

Sadly)
