This ended up as the Joojoo which Apple then ripped off with its ipad only the joojoo is 10X more powerful and feature packed with Flash and Webcam+Mic And ViOP, Solid state drive, 1.6GHZ atom and Nvidia Ion graphics.. Apple.. Get your own ideas.. Your cheap imitation ipad has nothing on this.
Honestly, this needs a lot of improvements. It might be bought by some techcrunch fans but doesn't really appeal to mainstream heavy internet users. I would make this thinner with a shiny colored finish, and add more iphone like browsing experience. When he is trying to touch the screen it is not very responsive. Why would I buy this thick and not so sleek looking tablet when I can buy a netbook for about $300, add pirated copy of XP and add touch screen myself for about $70 (kits sold on Ebay).
wth? did you black out at 17 seconds to 22 seconds. Pay attention. It's a proto, and a declared "crappy touchscreen... which is okay for a protoype". jeez...
Alot of people here are missing the whole point of this, simplicity, for browing, if it had a bunch of extra junk, it would ruin it, and NO ANDROID, Android is meant for apps, this isn't made for being a tablet pc.
Android is meant for apps, an OS. It's designed to have multiple applications, downloading them. This is mean for browsing only. He said in the original post, a simple cheap, full size browser.
I understand what you mean now. I think Android is a good solution, in any case. It's certainly light enough to be deployed on a mobile device and has obvious browsing capabilities. I guess I think of it this way: why try to solve a problem that's been solved?
Cool thing. I had one of these when I was a kid- but it had 2 knobs on the bottom to control the pointing device. You had to turn it upside down and shake it to reboot... What a cool thing
this is a move in the right direction. If it had a pressure sensitive pen (with you could draw on the screen), instead of a touch screen and it was under 500 eur. i would buy one immediately :D
anyway, even as it is right now, I would love to take this to live art class and draw with it some nude models ;)
oh, that reminds me. This has a touch screen, but does it recognize how hard you press? (like the nintendo DS does) Cause that would be awesome! :D

This is "prototype" B. It It's still aim for $200. so they using 12" resistive touchscreen.
But they already update by prototype C and D. (they don't usind this design any more)
by prototype D it using
12" capacitive touchscreen
1.6 Ghz Intel atom
Aluminum body
16mm thick
@ $300
put4558350 2 years ago
This is just a prototype.
The future versions will have a better quality touchscreen and better hardware, plus an arbitrary shiny case.
Raycaster7 2 years ago

What do you mean "Android is meant for apps"? Android is a mobile device OS.

Nice, but I think that the archos nine will kill it because it will be running windows 7 and it will be smaller and more portable.

the concept is interesting, however they should make it more slim.
as for the OS, i wish they used Android, it would have been much more interesting i guess
majdijr 2 years ago 2

I might be missing something but I don't see anything innovative, it's all been done. Maybe if it costs under $300.
smokingfetish120 3 years ago
it's costs about $200 to make. The final product will thinner better display and might have other thing while keep price below $300
12" display Not bad at all
