  • Remakes never measure up. Keep the classic a classic.. I remember watching "The Andromeda Strain" remake on A&E and it - stunk on ice. The 1971 version of that is a cult classic.

  • Epic fail, everyone knows that "The Poseidon Adventure" is the best Disaster movie ever, inferno paled in comparisson!

  • The best disaster movie ever,a true classic!

  • Can someone explain something to me? I can play practically anything by ear on piano however when it comes to this score, I can't pick up the notes at all. What's John Williams doing that makes this score so incredibly complex?

  • Thanks to who posted this video about this CLASSIC!

I am even 'shivered' when I see it...

A comment: in the end, when Patty cries after seeing the "yuk" husband dead (one of saddest scenes I watched!): I guess PAULA RAMSEY could be in this scene, her husband deserved to be REMEMBERED after passing away!

  • Truly one of the most impressive film scores in this history of film.

  • I watched them film the parts where the firetrucks come down Kearney Street to the Bank of America building. My cousin and I were extras in the crowd scenes for the dedication. It was freezing out there late at night !

  • To a time era when classic film making was king, nothing beats a classic ,they didn't rely on animated computers to save a bad scripted film.

  • Epic Grand Scale Classic Motion Picture With Huge Stars The Likes Of Which We Will Never See Again!

  • I can't believe YouTube suspended oldclassicmovie2's account! He had the entire version of The Towering Inferno uploaded on his channel along with a lot of other great disaster movies from the 70's. YouTube sucks!

  • @44excalibur I hope they don't try to remake it like was done twice with the Poseidon Adventure, neither of which measured up.

  • @pdigaudio I think remaking 'The Towering Inferno' would be a tough sell right now for obvious reasons. But in a decade or so, who knows? I hope they don't either because you're right, it would never measure up.

  • @44excalibur Any remake they do would fall far short of this timeless masterpiece, and lowest point of all...they would most likely cast talentless losers like Brad Pitt Tom Cruise or Matt Damon. It would be a real suck wad of a movie!

  • boy, does this bring back memories !! i cant believe this film is 35 years old, it was a very special time, during the 1970s'..... i loved all those big splashy disaster movies......its a part of history that just cant be re-made. god bless irwin allen and all the wonderful stars that made his movie visions realized.... "the towering inferno" is a very grand, important movie, dedicated to the firefighters of the world...... thank you for this tribute !! love, billy ralph weeden.
