How does watching a video fix your audio, you no nothing of computer, it probley dust in your vol potetionmeter and it staticy isn't it? or maby you need to update ur sound card drivers, whats ur sound card?

ok it doesnt fix ANY sound problem, but when i use Audacity, the audio sometimes tends to play very slowly, not only in the software itself but even every other windows sound or sound file i open. i realised that when i play this vid (or some other vid occasionaly) the sounds play at normal speed again. i dont know why

It's 5.1 to a certain extent but it is not true 5.1 because my surround sound setup only uses AV output from my TV (with HDMI input from the PS3) which is only 2.1 but my speakers have an adapter which allows sound to be outputed from all speakers

I would recommend an optical cable if you want an absolute true cinema experience. I'm thinking of getting some new 5.1 speakers which support optical but they're pretty pricy at the moment. But go for it!

Well, in the last 7 or so months since I commented I actually upgraded my original speakers to that of a Sony all-in-one theatre system with optical in. Also has a an amp, which I guess is what you call a 'receiver'. But yeah - but it's FAR improved and the sound is mind blowing. Still a long road to go until I get an HDMI in unit! Firing up DTS with a THX movie? Immense....
