  • @MaxOfS2D I was wondering how I would go about compiling non-class TF2 Models (ex: Scout's Mom, Miss Pauling, The Director, etc.) as they do not have their own QC files. Would the QC files be available at your site? Or would I have to make my own? I'm a beginner so sorry for the lack of knowledge. :)

  • this is great, one question though. When i get to entering ent_fire "name" blah blah scene/name.vcd ... it does nothing but stare at me. It didn't say it could get it and it was in a gmod scene file... any help?

  • @aln447 when im opening the source skd thing and cheking my animation its not there in any way. and i made it to smd file and did the codes and made it into that weird bat and nothing will work.

    Ok if I understood you right the animation you compiled doesn't play in the model viewer, but you can see the model itself.

    Well when you have your model in the model viewer in order to play the animation you need to go to the "sequence" tab. Than you will see 5 white rectangles. Press the one at the top and you should see a list with ragdoll, ref, and your sequence name. Choose your sequence, tick the circle next to it and move the "frame" slider at the bottom to

    play it.

  • @daesim92 Do you mean the gizmos?

    Well you can set them at the top of the screen. Right next to the scale button you have a silver rectangle with a text saying "View". Click it and change it to "Local".

  • Hey max. So I made an animation for the scout. Exported than compiled it like in the tutorial. Everything went well but when I wanna play my animation in the model viewer the scout model get really messed up, like the bones would suddently get blown diffrend directions.

    What can I do? Help please.

  • @omegasupreme101 the animation is converted using a script that creates a new pryo_animations.mdl file. my problem is that I can't load on gmod an actor pryo.mdl and hwm/pryo.mdl it says thats a Invalid model

  • Hey Max, whenever I select the move or rotating tool, the X, Y and Z arrow dimensions (20:47) don't show up. And there are weird looking X's on the model's hands so when I try to move the arms or hands, it seems like the hands are confined to that area. How can I fix this?

  • @monssavmik read the CAT pages in the 3ds Max help to gain glorious knowledge on what those "crosses" are.

    also, since this one is not as easily findable : the X key toggles gizmos

  • @linkspecialproximity It's winamp. A normal music player where you can ad playilsts. It also has this option of being hidden on the bottom of the screen.

    I searched some models but they just bones and, not cat ones. Can i use them or i can just set my animation on citizen from hl2 and then change skin etc?

  • @Hitaru13 Well you can make the CAT yourself.

    It's easy and there and many tutorials out there.

    An animator called thejazzman9475 made a full tutorial for setting CAT.

    He has in fact with tf2 models but it works the same on cs ones.

  • @TheHanfried according to the official mircosoft site, you should be able to uninstall it like any other program from "Add/Remove Programs"

  • @ethosaur 3ds max is free.. sorta, you sign up for the educational version which is basically just 3ds max, but you have about 3 years with it (i think...)

  • @FLPML the raw recordings from Fraps were about 80GB, then they were stitched into a single AVI with VirtualDub (slightly recompressed back to 45GB with a better codec), then that file was run through Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 into a ~700mb WMV file

    I use UT Video Codec Suite. Great lossless compressor, compatible with the standard AVI vfw stuff :D

  • Hey max, great tutorial, wanna ask you something, Why in Flex Sliders my the expressions are different to yours, I mean, there are no "InnerSquint", "OuterSquint", "Frown", "Nose" and so on.

  • im using 2012 everything works fine qc compiles and everything is ok

    however when i open hlmv it shows my animation in the sequence list but it will not play it on the model and when i try to use it in face poser it crashes

    i am not using tf2 models but i am using male_06.mdl and my animation is compiled into male_gestures.mdl i have no idea why it is not working

    His vocal mannerisms sound nothing like Wheatley's vocal mannerisms - simply because Max has a French accent, and Wheatley doesn't. Max isn't nervous, where as Wheatley is.

    import it in a separate max file, then merge that max file into your existing scene! (just like you import other rigs in there)

  • Max, I really dont wish to be rude, but perhaps you could add closed captions? You speak near perfect English, but your accent makes you hard to understand.

  • If you want to keep the valve animations I think all you need to do is:

    1. Copy the original animation mdl from the gcf. Such as "sniper_animations.mdl" and put it in the respective folder in tf2 or your dummy source mod.

    2. name it "sniper_animations2.mdl"

    3. Go into the QC you're going to compile and put in

    $include sniper_animations2.mdl

    (or something like that)

    Then it should keep all original animations and add the new ones.
