  • Nice video- just wondering what the attachment is that you use to attach the Bulgarian bag to the short rope? Would love to know, if you have time to reply that would be great..cheers!

  • This 'beats' sand bags in some ways because you can roll, bounce, leverage it off of your body more safely and more easily than a standard sandbag because the S-Bag is usually looser. THis is tighter and has a more 'body' feel to it. The horizontal swing/bounce off of your shoulder rotations are a perfect example of conditioning that feels like MMA/Judo/Wrestling throws and leverage movements.

  • great toy to play. i.e throw in the air, etc. but that s bout it!

if you want to work out for real and burn real calories hit an olympic weightlifting gym (especially in Bulgaria) and you will see wat i m talking about. : )

  • Feels like a bop-it commercial... Lift it! Throw it! Ju m

  • some of this workouts are kind of retarded like jumping and passing :))

  • @thanatas

lol why is jumping and passing retarded?? :D

  • Just made one myself! Its Great!

  • my brother and I made up some these Bulgarian bag out of sand and old form rubber and some heavy canvas we got at the suplus store, and made 6 of them at different weights for $60 they work,

  • Is working with the bag suitable for boxing? Thx

  • It looks like they are tying to do anything possible with these things?

I mean its cool but its like a infomercial that claims it does everything...

  • BULGARIA FTW!!!

  • Nice idea attaching the manila rope to the bag, haven't seen that before.

  • Gee, I spent a lot of time in BulGAria and havent come across that baby so far. I must have one, plz tell me who should I CONTACT with and I need info, price, and so on , thank u ;) ... Gj on the video ;)

  • Ivan Ivanov makes these bags. They are amazing. I have witnessed his workouts first hand and the olympic training center the past few years when he coached there.

  • It looks like these guys are hoisting lambs around. Is this really a Bulgarian Shepherd's workout?

  • im looking to step up my MA training, and have come across these bulgarian bags and think they will be excellent to start working with..

im just a little stumped as to what sort of weight bag to start on....? i have mainly only worked on conditioning specific to MA, but am just starting some weight training.

    (im 5'10, around 150lb...)

  • They say that 26 lbs is good for athletes between 150 to 190 lbs.

  • thanks for that sakoyo, will give it some thought

  • @SakoYo im 155lb and an highschool wrestling i use one thats about 34-37lb.

  • I'm Bulgarian!

  • I cant wait till next month so I can buy one of these badboys and see what it will do to my military career!

  • truly a great work out. I'm the guy in the middle (40yrs old). We do this 3 times a week for 55 minutes and I have seen great results over the last 6 months in terms of weight loss, body fat loss, and overall strength. Steve is a GREAT trainer but even better motivator. You can find us at the Sporting Club in La Jolla, CA if you want to get down on a session.

  • I have worked with the bulagrian bag for over 2 months and have made significant strength and conditioning gains. Coming from a bodybuilding background, my muscles were trained to move in a unilateral motion. Woring with the bulgarian bag provides multi-lateral motion while incorporating both cardio and strength training. I now prefer this type of workout over traditional strength and bodybuilding movements. Good work on this educational video.

  • What weight would you recommend? I have trained for a couple decades. I'm versed in CrossFit, circuit training and free weights. I don't do free weights any more.

  • Where in the post does CompetitveStrategy try to sell or push these bags? Sandbag and weight plates are perfect for individuals who are not coordinated and have absolutely no athletic abilities - thus, the bodybuilder. Kettlebells, bulgarian bags (functional training) is obviously a little more advanced for body builders due to the necessity to move in more than 1 direction. Anyway, how do I get in touch with you to get more information regarding the bag and/or recommendation on workouts. Thanks

  • this just like a sandbag only diff shape.Sandbags are considered functional by every S and C specialist.A dont know any bodybuilders who use them.

  • This is cool, I've actually gotten to work out with the Bulgarian Bag and the workouts are incredible. I appreciated the fact that it looked like it would be a simple tool to incorporate into my workouts, but in fact turned out to be a challenging endeavor and I've achieved great results in a relatively short period. Workouts are fun, but expect to be sucking wind and feel muscles you didn't know you had!

  • I assume you are trying to sell these or something.

Why would I use this thing versus any other sandbag or a weight plate?

  • The Bulgarian Bag is a unique training tool that allows you to work in multiple planes of motion, often during a single movement. This bag has roots in Greco-Roman wrestling and is used for muscle endurance/strength, much like the kettlebell. The real benefit is being able to perform work under a moderate load with relatively short rest periods. During a typical 50 min workout, you can expect to burn between 800-1100 calories. Besides, the workouts are fun a hell!

  • those are not benefits of the bag but of the protocol youre using.A sandbag would be just as good

  • @anvilorhammer I'm thinking the same thing. I already have a decent sized kettle bell, sandbag, curl bar, and dumbells. Why more equipment? can't I handle most of the exercises with this equipment.

  • @anvilorhammer Do you see any links for sale, I don't.
