Doesn't symbiosis require a preexisting symbiotic environment? In other words, the variety is expressed holistically and presents a limit to evolution.
Absolutely great video. I love the history of this special group of bees. They are an unique example of this kind of behaviour among all the animals. This is one of the best examples of the closiest plant-insect interaction and coevolution.
Charles Darwin's grandfather was a scholar of plants. He also started to identify patterns among different plants. He wrote a few books on this. Some think that his grandfather was dabbling in the concepts of evolution in his research with plants and may have influenced Charles's work with genetics.
Orchids are pretty sly in their reproductive methods. There is an other species called a hammer orchid that has a flower formed in the shape of a famale bee species. Males land on it thinking their gonna get some action but they end up flying away with pollen and blue balls.
These are one of my favorite types of bees when it comes to visuals because if you watch them in slow motion, they look like machines with bigger black legs. They almost look like they are a machine when they hover over flowers.
Very unique narration, music, content..these videos are some of the best on youtube!
