Chris misquoted Bachmann. She said Founders worked to remove Slavery. It was an evil and fought, but did not succeed until Civil War. Founders set it in motion.

Chris Matthews is a moron. He has no right to talk about knowing history when he completely misunderstands the 3/5th clause. He clearly doesn't understand that while Jefferson had slaves he hated the institution of slavery. Michelle Bachman never said the founders ended slavery, but they set the foundation for it's end with "all men are created equal" and did fight hard to end it -- though it took years and a civil war. For her to extend the wishes of the founding fathers for 90 years into that period is just nonsense. Bachmann is twisting history and twisting fact and making founding fathers from the political leaders of the day into untouchable saints as the elect of God. Nothing could be more destructive.

@Nerfball6 but what she said was that John Quincy adams, fought until slavery was ended. when really he was long dead before it ended, and the only reason why it ended was because of States and the Federal Government unwilling to comprimise which led to war. the south hated industrialization, and the north hated slavery. when the west was opened up that is when everything got stirred up because The north wanted more industry, and the south wanted more slavery. and both disagreed, and war sparked
