@ Taliso: I worked for AirCal when they developed 737 Executive Class service. They stratigically removed JUST enough rows of seats to have the same leg room as first class on other carriers. This allowed all our 737's to have 119 seat or less. The FAA rule then was you needed 1 flight attendant for every 60 passengers. SO without the 3rd or 4th crew member they could afford it. And with average flight times of 1-1.5 hours, everyone could be served by 2 crew, vs 3.
I routinely flew on AirCal between SNA and SMF as a kid. I hardly remember the fancy stuff, but I remember being given all the pretzels I could ever want.
