well in denmark there is a variation of that white elefant gam (or whatever you said) everyone buys a gift for a set price and same as your game it is cheesy or nice or maybe a reference to something that happened with the same grp of ppl the year before - then you take turns at rolling the dice, a 6 means you get to pick a present evrything else means nothing so you pass the dice on - when all the present are gone from the table you then start stealing from eachother until a set timer runs out

Because buying for family & friends (so many and so expensive)0 gets to be a pain in the arse. We do Chriss Xringle (said- criss cringle) Draw a name from the hat and that's who you buy for. Nobody knows who's buying for who (don't tell) Set a price limit $30 or whatever. This way everybody gets something without the "so and so didn't get me anything" comments. Also you buy one present not having to buy 20 or so.
