In 30 seconds, this scene made me cry. No words, not a thing about why they're here, in the middle of nowhere, crying in each other arms. Of course, I know the storyline, but I swear... with just that, you can see it all! The hurt, the loss, the friendship, the compassion, the emptiness, the despair... This is an AMAZING performance, from both actors.
i love the fact that throughout the series its always buffys friendship with willow or buffys friendship with xander, but in this scene we are reminded that Willow and Xander have been friends for a hell of a lot longer, and if anyone could talk willow down from this, it wouldn't be buffy, it would be her oldest friend xander.

So beautiful, a real friend, being there for a friend and staying there when she needed him the most, selfless. Loved these episodes the most in the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer".
I was blown away when I first saw this many years ago. Big Alyson Hannigan fan from her guesting on Roseanne, and My Stepmother is an Alien, to the American Pie triology etc. Just bought Buffy Vampire Slayer Boxset because of this episode. Even bought the episode on iTunes and started tearing up. Absolutely brilliant.
I wish this was the full scene. You can't help but feel your heart break for Willow as she emotionally collapses & ventures down the dark path of loss & grief.

I always felt bad for Willow after Tara died, even when she was the "big bad". The two of them just had the sweetest relationship I've ever seen on Television. Spike's my all time favourite Buffy character of course. He's just plain awesome as is James Marsters.

Buffy is, for all intents and purposes, a martyr. She would sacrifice herself and let herself suffer if it meant keeping someone else from going through that. Considering all the pain she went through, I would think that she would like to avoid causing Tara that pain.

I think Tara's death ruined Willow completely. She seemed so empty in season 7 like her spark was gone. Everything she did was half hearted and I know that they brought Kennedy in to try to give her some kind of "happy" ending and maybe a bit of closure but it was very forced and rushed. It just wasn't the same. Not to mention Kennedy was a bossy, spoiled little brat. *rolls eyes* That girl was annoying as hell.

I think this has got to be one of the saddest---if not THE saddest---scenes in the whole show. It's so beautiful and sad because Xander saved Willow from herself.

This scene is perfect. It makes me cry every time. Alyson is so talented, I was so glad that Willow became such an important and powerful character in the season. She's the best.

People knock Xander for just being around for comic relief. here he proved his strength. Willow had the power to snuff out his life with a thought and beneath the anger and darkness he still saw his childhood friend. He was the man in this scene.

While Willow was with OZ and Xander was with Cordy they kissed a couple times...and WIl and Xander got kidnapped once and kissed as OZ and Cordy burst in the save them...WIllow and Oz got back together but Xander and Cordy never did

Don't get me wrong, I ADORE Tara and would have loved to have her back in the series, especially if Season 8 had continued on TV, but it's one of those things that would forever bug me.

@RubyRed05 Well it's just the fact of Tara and Buffy grew VERY close she could tell her things that she wouldn't tell anybody she became more of a sister to Buffy like when her family tried to take Tara "Okay you can take her... but your going to have to go through me!" Or when she told Tara she was sleeping with spike or when Tara checked the spell for her Tara was there for Buffy when she needed someone most she believed in her so thats why she wanted to bring her back reguardless consequences

@IzzyKaleidoscope I completely agree with you in regards to Buffy and Tara's friendship. But in my mind that is just more proof on why Buffy wouldn't do that. Buffy is, for all intents and purposes, a martyr. She would sacrifice herself and let herself suffer if it meant keeping someone else from going through that. Considering all the pain she went through, I would think that she would like to avoid causing Tara that pain.

I think Tara's death ruined Willow completely. She seemed so empty in season 7 like her spark was gone. Everything she did was half hearted and I know that they brought Kennedy in to try to give her some kind of "happy" ending and maybe a bit of closure but it was very forced and rushed. It just wasn't the same. Not to mention Kennedy was a bossy, spoiled little brat. *rolls eyes* That girl was annoying as hell.

People knock Xander for just being around for comic relief. here he proved his strength. Willow had the power to snuff out his life with a thought and beneath the anger and darkness he still saw his childhood friend. He was the man in this scene.

While Willow was with OZ and Xander was with Cordy they kissed a couple times...and WIl and Xander got kidnapped once and kissed as OZ and Cordy burst in the save them...WIllow and Oz got back together but Xander and Cordy never did
