Why did he need to use a greenscreen if he could rotoscope his run/jump and animate that across the screen?

@Claw220 Because he says they originally went to film the jump at a friends house with a trampoline. They had not planeed to do the roto method. So the footage with the green screen was not used. Had they been able to get the lighting right the green screen would have made editing the jump much easier. Key out the green and the blue of the sky and then use key frames to move him through the air. Roto is frame by frame and take a lot longer. Create mask. Adjust frame by frame. Roto was plan B.

@KungFuMastur From what I can guess, he made the mailboxes in CG, tracked them in and broke them from where Logan hit them with the saber in 3DS Max. Then he used the tracking info to keep a fire on the empty stick in the ground.

The portal gun one doesn't seem to hard. I would think you would just get a pic of a portal, insert it into the shot, motion track it, then get a pic of yourself in a falling phase, draw a mask around the two portals, blur the pic of yourself, then for each frame, adjust yourself going down a couple feet

Man. I like how he is using ONE video to cover like half of the tutorials...

Like he could explain this entire thing with one video.

1: took separate pictures and made 1 big in photoshop

2: animate me running and jumping and replace legs

3: put some explosion layers down under the jump and on the gun-man, and add some glow and tint and stuff.

4: then freeze it at the end and put some filters on and render that cheese.

This doesn't need 65 tutorials! It can be explained in one.

@densle1 Yes and you also have to remember that if he did that, he'd have to come up with 3 new tutorials to make as well. He'd also have to do those along side of his weekly videos on the main channel and still find time to respond to emails and such. He doesn't have time to make more tutorials so he splits them up.
