  • I just got one at Dollar General ,it seems to be growing good, I only saved about 5% for "seed Crystals" as 1/4 seemed like a waste and I also put it in a glass votive candle holder as I figured that would make a better display. I have noticed the Crystals are growing fine on the rock but also on the edge of the glass out of the water making me think the tray might work better as wicking and evaporation seem to be more involved in the process than I expected.

  • @riverlifeva Thanks for sharing your experience. I also think that the tray speeds up the evaporation process, but tends to let crystals grow all over the tray, away from the rock. I saw another video on this topic, advising that if you want large crystals on the rock, remove those that grow elsewhere. An idea for a science fair project: a hypothesis, a control group (following package instruction sheet), and a few experimental groups (other methods). Hope you all have fun and good luck.

  • Dam i wish they sold the same Crystal kits mine after a week still got the water over tthe rock i am 100% confused and sure i did this wrong as the container is growing green around the plastic and not on the rock...blasted Instruction ! Wish there would be more information , cause i got no clue what any one means when they say grow your own crystals then pour the solution in another container and place the rock and the remaining powder in the container and wait..X_X

  • the one I bought at FM it came with the instructions that read "fill the dispay pedestal to about 3/4 full with cold water and pour the water into a container" yet you dint used cold water on your video?confused????help.

  • @Dnovato3000 I don't have the instruction sheet any more, but I think the step you describe is just to see how much water we need. The water still needs to be heated up (probably in the next sentence). The heat ensures maximum saturation (disolving as much as possible for a concentrated solution). That's the way I remember it, please review your instruction sheet and see if that's the case. Good luck with your project.

  • @Dnovato3000 Forgot to mention, the volume of 3/4 of the display pedestal is about 2 fluid oz . My vid simplifies things by just saying "use 2 fl oz. of water".

  • @Dnovato3000 you dont use the cold water, its only to find the right level for the hot water, only use the hot water to mix it and then poor it into the tray

  • i just bought one at family dollar so they still have them

  • I just buy one and I mess it up and then when I mess it up I find this I thing the crystal are make fun of me

  • Psss pss I need more lemon pledge. lol jk great video

  • I tried this for the children I babysit, (to give them something cool to watch over, like a small sense of responsibility) but nothing grew. It just remained soggy and when it dried, nothing stuck to the rocks nor formed.. :( Luckily, it's just a dollar. So I will try again :) This video helped.

  • og kush

  • ....My girlfriend spotted these at FD today....pretty cool stuff for grown-up kids;)

  • @MegaNeonzz I haven't seen them lately. But with dollar stores, merchandises come and go, then back. So keep checking at your local stores.

  • Thanks ganna try this with my little brat nephew. I just wanna drink...

  • try experimenting with a larger container around the same size.Dont use the hole bag of crystal powder, save a little, thats if you have extra packs to waste like me.Try reusing the dried up crystals at the bottom when its done growing,an mix em in the left over solution an add a spoon or two of water, make shore the water mix stays dark, dont let it get too light,I took rocks from outside, with the same size and smoothness an cleaned em,i have to post a video,to show u what happened.

  • @frank21184 Thanks for your advice. I remember reading something about "seed crystals", I think your method harvests seed crystals from the previous crop to help start the new crop, right? I'd love to see your vid.

  • from what i've been seeing, the container they give is not the ideal container. I should be placed in a bottled container and the crystals should grow on the rocks inside the solution.

  • it took me more then one try to get it right, but i think i may have figured out.

  • I bought a lot of them,for 1 buck,seem like a good deal...but the first one i tried i got the same results,pure crap,i was so upset,

so i tried again with a different method,an it worked!!!!Im watching them grow right now,it looks so amazing, compared to the blob i made the first try,you should try again!!!

  • @frank21184 What's your "different method"? Please share. I still have another packet somewhere, I might try again. Thanks.

  • I do like your professional ways and your accent.

  • lol u sound like a tweilve year old version of Arnold Schwarzenegger. in a good way.

  • @legendarywerewolf206 English is not my native language. If it can be understood, that's all I hope. If the accent amuses you, even better. Thanks for watching.

  • looks like a pile of dung.. ripp of! sue em

  • @genex5 Thanks for your "legal" advice. But I did have some fun with it, about $1 worth. So I guess it's fair trade.

  • I do think a more expensive kit would do the trick but I haven't seen any anywhere lol....

  • I bought one too and the same thing happened to me I suppose that is what the result is since we paid 1 dll for it

  • @RosenManrique Thanks for sharing your experience. I wonder if a more expensive kit will produce the crystal spikes as illustrated? Did anyone succeed, please share your "secret" techniques.
