thank god we have internet in most countries. TV is balls repeats, hardly show great things and worst of all commercials/ads that get in our way when we trying to finish watching a episode. The even worst part of tv is we cant watch upcoming shows when we want no we have to watch on a certain time if you miss out thats too late unless they repeat. i only watch tv for live sports. I stopped following programming a few years back, and don't miss it at all. The thought of planning any amount of my life around the television kind of creeps me out! Then they get pissed off that I would even consider taking them away from it...
Even Cable TV sucks now. God I can remember watching Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network for the great cartoons, TV Land for the great classic shows, and even former Tech TV (now G4). Now I turn on the TV, and nothing but crappy movies and yes those dredded reality TV shows. If you are thinking about getting Cable TV, DON'T! You will be paying $60+ a month for nothing but crap. The Internet is where the real entertainment is now. Netflix and even here on YouTube.

I don't think that everything on TV sucks nowadays. Yeah, a lot of shows on the major networks are lame reality shows, game shows or overrated sitcoms and dramas that I could care less for. I personally watch shows on cable more now. I enjoy shows on networks like HBO, USA, Comedy Central, AMC, TNT etc. And TV from the past is far from flawless. There was crap on TV back then as well. It's just that with nostalgia we don't really remember the awful shows and the good ones are remembered.

Every decade, I can remember my parents always having a favorite sictom or two to watch when I was growing up. That wasn't the case in this decade.
In the 80's, they enjoyed Family Ties, Mr. Belvedere and Roseanne. In the 90's they enjoyed Wings, Coach, Roseanne and of course, the T.G.I.F. lineup.
That really says something. Even they couldn't find something decent to watch in the new millenium.
Television is dead. Play a record, watch a VHS tape or watch older shows on YouTube
