I have a 2006 4.2, the only thing I don't like about it is the gas mileage, and the stupid center console lid. I would not stay shut and would open at random. However, I broke off the clip and not just use velcro, problem solved. Any tricks to get better gas mileage?
@dzzzt69 replacing your air filter with a K&N Air Filter is one of the best investments you can ever make to improve gas mileage. It's made of a different material that traps more tiny particles, and allows more air to enter in to the engine, which results in increased horsepower, better throttle response, and especially, improve fuel economy. I have it on my Chevy TrailBlazer with a V8, and the difference is night and day. You can easily look for the part number on the K&N Website
I like the suv, I just searched actual recorded gas mileage by the EPA, the 5.3l V8 actually gets an average of 26.8MPG highway because of the variable cylinder shut off. This was the actual recorded mileage, not those BS EPA estimates.
@spoirier01 I agree, I own one also and I used to own a TrailBlazer and an Envoy before that. The 9-7X has much better handling and feels quicker too. It actually feels down right sporty at times.
fucking GM caused crisis of Saam because of this fucking stupid useless SUV with ridiculously bad economy. GM nearly wipe out Saab, I'm glad they're not under GM anymore..
The 9-7x offered Saab customers an SUV that was fast to market. If GM had not offered the 9-7x Saab customers would have to wait for the 9-4x. I would rather have a 9-7x than nothing at all
I have a 2008 9-3. I love Saab, I respect GM. I HATE when GM did to Saab. Who are they kidding? The 9-7x looks like a 1996 model year. Did Ford rebadge an Explorer and label it a Volvo XC90? NO! They left Volvo Europe to build their own individual cars. Then GM goes and cries for a bail out.

Would have been 100X better if they changed the door handles.

Are Trailblazer and Envoy parts compatible with the 9-7X?

"The 6 runs out of steam at the top end." No it doesn't. Peak torque of the I6 is 4800 RPM, and the torque curve is flatter than that of the V8.

@Rs7764 Yes, but don't use synthetic oil because it'll burn it on the highway switching from 4 to 8 and back.

They should put a real Saab steering wheel, the GM one is really ugly.

I own one and love it. Drive one and compare it to a trailblazer. There's no comparison
