Saw Him Live at the Coach House Right after he came out with this Album, Great show only seated about 100 People. Stage props were his Piano, a Lamp post and a Hooker!
@FavoriteTunes2009 We dont even have to touch the music topic to look at your "Nope, god is god" in a logical way, dont we? But genius? If Tom Waits is a genius then I dont know what Strauss and Mahler were. Just sayin....
@Hero0fSilence Geniuses also. Never said Waits had the monopoly on being a genius. Comparing Waits with Strauss and Mahler is like comparing apples and oranges. They all taste real good and i love them both but they are different.
@FavoriteTunes2009 Apples and oranges arent constructs, but are structurally similar, in the plant function, the seeds, watering, etc. I dont see how that is an axiomatic analogy. but anyways, there must be a criteria to establish someone as "genius", otherwise I can call britney spears or any musician genius, because they are pineapples or any fruit. If you ask me, Waits does nothing with form, modulation, counterpoint. And his phrases are short, like a "chorus"...
@FavoriteTunes2009 ÿoure just looking for an argument", lol, you barely reallized it, and therefor see it as a bad thing. yes, its a perfect argument, if we cant compare two musicians then we can call any musician a genius on its own terms....
One of Tom Waits better tunes, at least to my taste. He has some quirky song titles like (16 Shells from a 30.06 & Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis) ha ha His real "growlers" aren't my favorites, but I would jump at the chance to see him live. My sister in Florida really likes this guy a lot.

I'm still fairly new to Tom Waits' music, and when I first played this album I thought it was a different singer. He's a vocal chamelion.
Very pleased I finally discovered him, the rest of my music seems a bit boring by comparison. Thanx 4 postin.
