Sorry Ukfolkrocker, Bruce Rowland couldn't be the "official" drummer at that time, simply beacuse... Fairport didn't exist at that time. They split in 1979 and they used to regroup occasionally in Cropredy in summer, whatever line up had the chance to regroup. They officially regrouped only in 1985 as a threesome (Nicol, Pegg & Mattacks).
That's true, of course, that the two drummers are Mattacks & Rowland.
"the greatest folk-rock band of all time"from the program of the concert at Heusdem(Belgium),23 aout 1985.I was there.I'm an ultra fan of all the English folk-rock,and the first was Fairport Convention with the genious Ashley Hutchings! After the marvellous Steeleye Span, all the Albion band, all the work of Ashley.I have see Fairport,Steeleye and Albion. But here in Belgium......NOTHING about!!!
I don't think it's the same gig. The clip you refer to is from a VHS that was released back in the 80's I think it's called "It All Comes Round Again". Don't know if it was ever released on DVD. I have a dub of the original VHS.
I can see why you may have missed seeing Dave Mattacks, there are two drummers, Dave is on the left looking cool and wearing shades. Due to camera angles he is only seen briefly. The drummer seen mostly is Bruce Rowland the 'official' Fairport drummer at the time, though Dave often guested around this time.
If you look for other clips I have posted from this show I expect you will better a better view of Dave :-)
Thanks ukfolkrocker, guess it must have simply a unique reunion gig type of lineup. I once played in a set with two drummers actually, I did the fiddle part for 'Led Zeppelin - Kashmir'. What a concert! I suppose we needed the two drummers was to compensate for the lack of Jon Bonham :)

They did do "Polly on the Shore". It was released in 1983 on a live cassette entitled "AT-2".

Good to see some clips of Bruce Rowland (no longer playing) and Trevor Lucas (passed away, way too young sadly) in action. Great clip!
