It does sound a little like a V8 due to the "gargle" but it's the 2.11 5 cylinder turbo straight engine (NOT an R5). The sound under revs cannot be mistaken with anything else on earth :D
its known as an I5, as in inline 5, like an I4 or I6.
the letter usually follows the shape of the pistons viewed from the front.
the only exception i know is any flat engine, which is referred to as a F4/6, or occasionally (incorrectly) an H engine (viewed from above). w and v engines follow the same naming principal.
I don t know because I ask be , but after again listening R5 and v 8 I see difference . You don t suprised that I don t know , this is a rarely engines especially old R5 which is much older than me :)

i believe I5 would be correct but the sound might be mistakeable for a chevy colorado or one of those goofy I5 saabs lol prob not

Fiat coupe 20V Turbo is still equiped with a R5 Engine, produced until late 2000's 5 Pot Egines have the greatest sound
pretenderpt 3 years ago
@pretenderpt there are more cars equipped with a R5 engine, even nowadays, though Group B cars seen on streets are legends alive :D
