I have a question, which is, how many James Taylor fans out there agree with me that this song should have been added to his Greatest hits, volume 2 Cd, that he released in mid 2001.
what was the song he sung in the simpsons episode where homer goes to space with the ants and all that, was that a real song or just a spoof kinda thing
It will forever escape me why this song wasn't a top hit! It's brilliant from beginning to end, and easily one of my favorite songs James Taylor has performed.
One of my all time JT favourite songs ....great backing vocals ...grew up with this song, like so many of JTs ...I feel the Guy has written songs about my entire Life ..........its amazing....even now he is getting better and better if thats possible ..on stage his energy levels are superb ..and that voice ...Ah .that voice..God sent JT down here for us all to enjoy....Thank You God
And the personnel don't stop with Mitchell & Henley - that's Lee Sklar on the bass, and it looks like the late Jeff Porcaro (of Toto) on drums as well. What an incredible lineup! Does anyone recognize any of the other backing musicians, e.g., the percussionist, other vocalists, keyboard player?
First heard this song right after my gf and I broke up along time ago. Reconnected with her many years later and we spent a couple of great years together. Heard this song the last night we spent together. God, I love her still to this day and the ending of the world.
Just a Little trivia. I was one of 3 Video Engineers working this shoot. It was the first time Sony Betacams were used for Music Video production. We had some minor problems with the Looma Crane and the Betacam zoom interface but made it work. We shot three Videos that day . Three full takes on each song. We wrapped 26 hours later. I am still impressed with the look. Peace. melt
Lee Sklar did not originally play bass on this song. It was Tony Levin. And on drums was Russ Kunkel. Here in this video, Rick Schlosser's the drummer. Arnold McCuller and Rosemary Butler did not sing on this either. Don Henley and Joni Mitchell, however, did.
It's definetely Billy Payne from Little Feat. He does tons of "studio" work as well. Don Grolnick wasn't the "string bean" Payne is and had dark hair. Unfortunately, Don Grolnick is no longer with us. Like Payne, he was an incredibly talented player.
i first heard this song in 2007 when i worked overnight at Kroger groceries after that i dedicated it to my fiance i love this song and every song from Mr. James Taylor but only one only one:)
You know, it is a shame that this song is not included on his Greatest hits volume 2 CD. Also, Besides James Taylor, other people you might recognize in the video are Leland Sklar, Don Henley, Arnold Mcculler and Joni mitchell.
were doing a strings version of a James Taylor Concert for our orchestra.. incuding this song,Mexico, and Smiling Face... thnks for putting this on here..

Or maybe I'm seeing things.
Either way ... fantastic song and vocals by all. I love JT xxx

Arnold & Rosemary (such a sweetheart!) are seen to James's left...and I thought more obviously doing audible BGV than Joni & Don.
